I come from more of a development approach than strictly a gamer, so I thought I'd just throw this out and see what happens. Does anyone know where I can read up about how to go about making a playstation emulator, or just how to hack a playstation disc? To be specific, I want to hack Resident Evil and add more Melee weapons. It may be hard, but I am determined, and willing to learn. I have been programming for years now, and I think it's time for a new challenge. Who knows, maybe once I learn a thing or two about the inner-workings of a playstation disc I can join the emu-gods and create something cool and useful. |

What you need to learn most of all is R3000 assembly language. The R3000 is the PS1 CPU. http://chortle.ccsu.edu/AssemblyTuto...lContents.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIPS_ar...nstruction_set I don't do R3000 myself, but I tought myself a few tricks in M68K, a long time ago. Those docs should help to get you started. |
