Pec/VGS problems.

I'm sorry to post on the forum like this, I feel like a n00b, but I don't know where else to go; because nothing else is helping me.

I have been trying to figure this out for days. I'm not slow at working computers but this has been a hell of a challenge for me. I have windows XP, and ran Pec easily. It's VGS where I had the problem.

It simply will not let me install it, it says it will not work with windows XP. Simple enough, there seems to be many sources available to fix this, one being Sapu, but every single site I go to does not load and I assume that it has been shut down. I have a major headache and I'm about to rip my hair out, so if anyone can help me out that would be awesome.

Edit: Yes, I've tried search- sifting through all the un related threads is giving me an even bigger headache, and there doesn't appear to currently be a ton of related issues,.

Sadly you should search again.... This is in the VGS/Bleem Board, its the read before you post rules.

You need a patch to run it on XP. The Patch

Oh PS its on the same site/network that carries PEC.

Yes, yes, I'm sorry- this was simply a last resort and kind of rushed through.

I have downloaded the patch; it's not that I haven't looked and searched up and down the PEC site. When I run it I get a error that is along the lines of, 'tnkXfs.day does not exist', when I tried to fix this, I was told to run a VGS, which I cannot do because I get the 'cannot run on windows XP' error. Or was I imformed wrong?

Thanks.

Yeah it does kind of suck, and whenever I actually find something that I think will solve the problem, the site has been shut down or the download doesn't work. It's really starting to frustrate me.

Anyway, thanks for the help, I'll try that, and post if I fix it. But damn I doubt it I'll be able to any time soon.

All you have to do is put VGS in the same directory as the patch, and run VGS normally once. It will say it needs Win98/ME, and just click ok. You see, when you run VGS it creates a file named tnkxfs.dat(Which is necessary to use the patch) in your TEMP directory in windows, regardless of wether or not you are in Win98/ME. Then you can run the patch, and it will work properly. Just MAKE SURE the VGS executable 'Connectix VGS.exe' is in the same directory as the patch.

P.S. You will need to run the patch everytime you use VGS.

Thank you all so much for your info; FrostyTheSnowman especially, I got it to work!

Sorry for posting here, I know there are probably enough threads clouding up the forums. But it was a last resort for me.

Don't bump old threads, and don't double post either. Your question was already answered in the other thread, so check there.
