Problem with Playstation emulators

Hello,
I am new to emulators in general, and I have been going along well until I decided to get a PSX emulator...its been a nightmare. The problem is, whenever I start a game (CD or ISO) it automatically closes out of the emulator and the windows "Send Error Report" screen comes up. I've used ePSXe (versions 1.6.0 and 1.5.0) and PSXeven, and so far nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Oh. That's got to do with your graphics adapter.
Update your graphic card drivers.

It is not always best to upgrade the graphic card drivers especialy
if you have an old gfx card.
branfordlax can you post you pc specs?

So you're saying that I have to buy a new graphics card? Or is there another way to update it....is a graphics card the same thing as a video card? Sorry if I sound like an idiot My specs? Well, I'll try my best:

CPU: Dell Inspiron 1000 (basic crappy model)
RAM: 512 MB
GFX Card: Unknown (same one that came w/computer)
OS: Windows XP SP2
Internet Connection: Unknown (relatively fast, 100.0 Mbps)

I hope the problem isn't my gfx/video card, because if that is the case, I am probably not going to buy a new one because I am getting a new laptop around Christmas.

P.S. I do realize that desktops run overall much better than laptops, but my parents insist on a laptop because it's portable.

I have found this information about your Laptop:
Quote:
* Intel Celeron 2.2GHz Processor
* 512MB PC2100 DDR Memory
* 40GB 4,200rpm Hard Drive
* 24x CD-RW/DVD Combo Optical Drive
* 15" XGA LCD Display and SiS 650 Integrated Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
* AC'97 Audio
* v.92 56Kbps Modem, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11g Wireless PC Card
* Three USB 2.0 Ports and One Type II PC Card Slot
* 13" x 10.6" x 1.5" @ 6.7 lbs
yes, you have a real crappy graphic card...
anyway try to use P.E.Op.S soft plugin or Pete's OpenGL 1.76 (not OGL2 2.8).

Okay, thanks. I'll try that. In addition, I'll try to get another graphics card.....any suggestions?

P.S. ePSXe or PSXeven? Is one better than the other for my crappy computer...

I would suggest you the ePSXe but you can try both.
About the graphic card: Get some card with 128/256 ram which supports
at least pixel shader 2... well my Radeon 9550 serves me well for the psx emulation.

As for your new pc, i would really suggest you to buy a desktop one, but that is up to you.
