Emulator Info

All right, I've been looking all over the place for an Emulator that works. Preferrable one that can do both ps1 and ps2 games. So my first question is, does it exist?

If so where can I download it? What other files do I need to make sure it works....

I just want something that will let me play my playstation games on my laptop. I can't find anything that works. Help will be VERYappreciated!

Well, it's wierd that you can't find anything that works. ePSXe does great for most PSX games, as well as pSX (depending on your games) and many others - PSXeven, PCSX, etc. For PS2 you can try PCSX2...

As for the needed files, you have to have PSX and PS2 BIOS files (you're supposed to dump these files from your own PSX and PS2. Do not ask for it here or hushypushy will come as fast as you'll never see again and close this thread, once it's against the forum's rules). If you choose to use a plugin-based emulator, you'll also need plugins (that can be found here).

Finally, you can find the emulators mentioned - as well as many others - here, just as JkKdArK said.

an emulator that can do both PS1 and PS2 games. how about SNES too? what about genesis? maybe it should have a built in toaster, and maybe an iron also for your clothes. hmm..

or maybe just use seperate emulators? i dont get why people want a 2-in-1. if you want to play PSX and PS2 on the same thing, buy a PS2.

anyway, be forewarned, while PSX emulation is quite advanced (and there are many emulators for you to try and you should have a lot of success), PS2 emulation isnt quite there yet. a lot of games run, but at only a few FPS. i am warning you ahead of time, dont ask when a game will work or why a game doesn't work. PS2 emulation is far from complete, so if you actually want to PLAY a PS2 game....buy a PS2.

also, i can understand why you put it in pSX emulator section (thinking it's general PSX emulator info) but that's actually a name of an emulator--pSX. yeah, i hate the name too, it's not very creative and it creates a lot of confusion for everyone. i moved it to everything else PSX, just because that's a more appropriate section.

Also, PS2 emulation in pSX is something that the author stated that may be implemented in the future.

Post your laptop specs if you want any opinions on configuring the plugins.

That's the problem, I download plug-ins and try to configure the program, but it turns into a big mess every time. I'll try again and see what happens...

PS: The ePSXe tells me it can't read the cd, I need to configure the "video"....? The drop down box in the video configuration doesn't contain anything though. It also can't fidn the GPU plug-in.

The ePSXe works now, but only with very few games. Can I do something about this?

The PS2 emulator does still not work. Keeps on asking for bios.

Just so you know, you need to dump the bios from your own PS2. getting it from the net is illegal, and asking for it on this forum, or where to get it, is against the rules. Just forewarning you ahead of time, so you don't mistakingly break one of the rules.

for the PSX thing, try this thread.

as for PS2 emulation, even if you have a BIOS, it doesnt do much. if you want to mess with PS2 emulation, try PCSX2.

this is a dumb question: If a PS2 can play PSX games, wouldn't the PS2 emulator would still be able to do the same so that way Svea can have his 2-in-1 thingy? Well I also know that PS2 emulators aren't that advance yet, but does anyone know about anything like this?

its because inside the PS2, the things that play PS1 and PS2 games are different. there is a chip for PS1 playing, that has not been emulated yet.

seriously folks, how hard is it to switch emulators?

and if you're that damn lazy, put a disc in your real PS2. that's what it's there for.
