Question about USB adapter / PS2 controllers

I'm just trying to figure out if it's my no-name brand PS2 controller, or just the way it goes with USB adapters.

I got my Super Joybox4 all set up last night, and it detects everything, but I find that in game, the controller is terrible at finding diagonals, and not the most accurate. For example, I was playing MVP 2004 for the PC, and the sensitivity going from center to to diagonal was almost unplayable.

Would a genuine Sony PS2 controller give better results, or is this just common for this kind of USB adapter setup?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

Cheers!
