Legality question

If I rip the movies from my FF6, 7, 8, whatever disk... is it legal for me to host them on my website? I remember reading about the PSF debate... is this stuff gray area, or what?

But it is content from a game owned by Square. One would think that distributing the movies and/or music from them would be copyright infringement.

like square enix is gonna notice that your distributing. in this world of piracy. do u think square enix would care. they have other things to do. go ahead and distribute them if u think it illegal then don't do it. u could also just make the quality of the fmv's look horrible :P.

I think it's legal but to be on the safe side you might want to include a snippit about how they are Square's. Might also want to include contact info since they would probably be pissed if it took them alot of work to contact you.

If your hosting pictures or anything copyright a company or someone else, alls you gotta do is at the bottom of your page just write all all material is copyrighted Square Enix. Blah Blah, you are not affiliated with them and it would be nice to put a link to their site too.

When I used to have a fan site I did that and got no problems. You'll see others doing that as well.
