using the sony dual analog flightsicks with a pc?

there's a pic, in case anyone's unfamiliar with the controller. what i'd like to do is connect it to my pc, for both emulator purposes and for windows games. my questions are as follows...

1) is anyone familiar with a PSX to USB adapter which is known to work with this controller? i have the one from radio shack and it doesn't correctly read the input from the controller (works perfectly with other controllers). would it be better to build my own PSX to parallel port adapter? it wouldn't be too big of a deal, as i know how to read diagrams, wire, solder, etc.

2) are there any emulators and/or plugins which properly simulate the contoller? for example, some games (colony wars: vengeance, for one) auto-detect what type of contoller you have connected. under ePSXe, colony wars detects a standard digital pad, regardless of how things are configured, while it properly detects a dualshock with other emulators/plugins.

3) is this a hopeless cause?

any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.

well, if each stick maps out to each PSX analog stick, and each button represents one of the PSX's 16 buttons (including 4 for the D pad) then i dont see why it wont work.

about the Radioshack adapter: ive heard good things, just no rumble. there's also good adapters at www.lik-sang.com

i'm using the radio shack one right now. rumble works just fine, both with windows force feedback games and ePSXe.

i don't think the flightsticks map the same as a standard analog pad. in the control panel test app, the buttons all work fine but the hat switch (which should act like a d-pad) doesn't respond at all and movement of the analog sticks is activating multiple buttons simultaneously. it's obvious that whoever designed the radio shack adapter didn't think about compatibility with this somewhat uncommon controller.

thanks for the lik-sang link... i'll keep it handy.
