Help a novice, please

Hi

This might seem a silly question, but how can I play PS1 - games on pc? I'm a little bit overheated with all the information on ngemu . So where do I start?
Thanx in advance

Re: Help a novice, please

Theres some steps you must follow. So lets start:

1) Download a emulator, always the latest. Choices: epsxe 1.6, psxeven 0.17b(i think), pcsx 1.5.
2) Download Plugins, always the latest.
This is what makes most people confused.
Graphics plugins: Pete“s OGL 1.74, Pete“s PEOPS, Lewpy“s(in case you have a Voodoo card only).
Sound plugins: Eternal, pete“s.
CD-rom plugins: pete“s, cdr-moby, (actually i dont use them, since Epsxe already comes with one.)

These are the files you need to Download here in Ngemu , they“re pretty easy to find.
BUT, you“ll also need the PSX BIOS. And you can only have that if you own a psx yourself, you cannot download it from here.

Have said that, the Other problem is to set the best config for each plugin. Take a look at the others threads, or fell free to ask here. I hope i“ve been of any help.
Welcome to Ngemu comunity!!

If you don't know where to find a BIOS, just use some search engine and you should be able to find it. Namely goggles. Don't ever ask here -- It's illegal.

Re: Help a novice, please

Just download the BIOS from the net. Look it up on google.

AS for the pads, if you are using ePSXe, you wont need pad plugins. PCSX and PSXeven do require them though

Re: Help a novice, please

Tnx. I assume that sort of connectors are available to connect PSX-pads to my pc? Or is that a question for the hardware section?

Re: Help a novice, please

Yeah, you need an adpater to connect your PSX pad via the USB to your PC, such as this one

Re: Help a novice, please

Try epxse first. It runs most of the games just great.

Re: Help a novice, please

yes, i would recommend ePSXe. i remember when i was an ePSXe newbie and i wanted someone to tell me one thing (no choices )

the stuff i recommend EXACTLY:
-ePSXe 1.6.0
-Eternal 1.41 (sound)
-Pete's OGL 1.74 (video)
-Sapu's CDR (cd plugin)
-(no pad plugin needed)
-CloneCD to make an iso of the game (http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html)

i hope it helped.
