super dual joy box problem....

i just got a Super Dual Box from hong kong (the 2 controller version) which lets me use my ps1 dual shock controllers... everything works fine, except when i test the controller, the right knob axis is always pointing up, no matter how often i calibrate it or how i calibrate it (switching analog off, etc).... im using winxp home sp1. i also have win98 and it doesnt occur there, but the joystick responce is much slower and i dont really use 98 anyway so i'd like it to work in xp....

can anyone help????

Re: super dual joy box problem....

Hey Dude,
I had the exact same problem with PCSX and ePSXe, but it was with standard PC USB controllers, any kind that had analog sticks. I purchased a gravis gamePad Pro because it had just the d-pad which worked but it was terrible for fighting games. I bought a superjoy pad for Xbox controllers, but had the same problem with it being stuck in the uppper/right when configuring controls. Basically I have to do this everytime I plug the controller back in. Go to Control Panel calibrate the sticks, then hit the same button twice. I know you already calibrated it, but I eventually got it to work. I've also tried calibrating just the d-pad, and I think that this what is stuck in the up and not the analog stick.

I'm using Windows XP with ePSXe, super joy pad w/ 2 Xbox controllers, and they work fine. The problem lies somewhere in Direct X or calibration because I've seen it happen with at least three emulators, MAME, ePSXe, and PCSX

Hope something in there helps.

Ermac

Re: super dual joy box problem....

Did you have any problems with installation? Because I know the super joy pad isn't signed by XP....

Re: super dual joy box problem....

the only problem i got was that windows warned me that the driver wasnt signed....but i installed anyway... i can automatically update the drivers to newer, 'windows-friendly' ones (not made by tiger or may flash) but its all the same... btw, just to reiterate, the crosshair is always stuck in the top middle, not the top right....im not sure if thats EXACTLY what was happening to you, or if that matters, but there it is anyway

later

I'm not trying to be bogue, just trying to help, Even though you're trying to use the analog did you calibrate the d-pad as well?

Also, even though the cross hair is stuck were you able to move it w/ any of the sticks or d-pad before it would shift back?

Re: super dual joy box problem....

ya i calibrated the d-pad in a few different way...

i can move the crosshair to the top left or right corner by moving the right stick up and down...pressing it left or right does nothing. but i think the backwards thing (up=left down=right) is caused by an amateur patch i applied while desperately trying to fix this.....

Re: super dual joy box problem....

That just seems weird. There has got to be a way to get it to work. Did you try a standard PSOne control without the analogs? When i first normal USB controllers I noticed 'analog-less' controllers worked better than ones with analog sticks.

Let me know if that makes a difference.
