PSX movies

I am trying to get ahold of a reliable program that will convert .str files to a different file type like .avi, .mpeg, or another media file like that, because the programs that I keep using keep asking for some kind of plug-in.

I am also looking for a program to get the fmv's off of FF8 or a very simple way to.

I have seached. I've sat down and searched for hours straight. If I could read japanese I would have what I need.
