Re: Which Is The Best Emulator
Why not try them and see which is better for you, thats what we do and we end up liking them equally. It depends on how it works out in the end for you. Shoot, they free, its not like you loosing money over any of them.
Yes you need a BIOS. I don't even need to answer why, its obvious. |

Re: Which Is The Best Emulator
The best are IMO, ePSXe and PSXeven, also there's fpse, adripsx, pcsx as well.
Why the bios is needed, because the emus use the bios "instructions" in order to work. Follow Dark Zero's advice, once you test some emus you'll find the best that suits to you. |

Re: Which Is The Best Emulator
Thanks very much for replying... I was planning to try a few but they all look so good. At the moment I am going to go with EPSXe. I was really curious about the bois bit. Been in IT I know that its mainly to talk to the hardware... but there is not hardware with an Emulator... Am I right in saying there are a number of freeware bios packs out there ? ( Yes I know don't ask etc ) which is why I am saying Freeware.
Just in case your intrested this is no for playing at home all my PS1 games... have a look at my little project on my web site... http://www.letscommunicate.co.uk/carpc/ Thanks for your reponses. Terran |

Re: Which Is The Best Emulator
There is currently no 'freeware' BIOS. In theory you have to dump it yourself, unless you use PCSX which has an HLE bios (a feature I'd like to see in other emus to be honest)
The best PSX emu is either ePSXe or PSXeven IMO, with PCSX sitting right behind them. The other emus avalaible are:

Re: Which Is The Best Emulator
Thanks very much... I did try and find this some where before bothering you all. Just tried ePSXe and I must say I am impressed. Although its running a bit slow some times and the grapics look a bit blocky. This probably will be solved by me playing how ever on a 7" screen it won't be an issue.
( And it worked under XP ! ) Thanks all Terran |
