ps2 plays divx and mp3?

i heard this at mirc when i was on a anime channel, ps2 reality media player, anyone got it working. I know vcd can be played on a ps2 when you convert them to the psx fmv format.

Speaking of this how the hell can you convert a movie to the str file type. Thesers a program that claims to do that but never works! I always wanted to do this.

No, it wont work. It doesn't matter if you convert a file to str. The ps2 only recognizes the ps2 games structure and the dvd structure.

yep, ps2 media player is a reality and works. But you need a modchipped ps2 or an action replay in order to make it work. Look for info at it's homepage.

The player is slow as hell. It'll need a lot more optimisations before it's usable.

The DMS3 can play divx and mp3, if you get the software, burn into a cd, and install in the memory card, this is the only chip that i know that actually can run mp3 and divx, this modchip is the best !!!

(Well maybe exist a boot cd for play divx and mp3 but i dunno.)

You'd have to convert it and make an app to run the movies I should think.

I have played it in my friend house he copy videos music to a cd and with the program instaled in the memory card (i think it only work with original sony memory card) and he enter in devolution mode (chip feature) run a program wich browse the files like media player its realy cool but this is the most expensive mod chip here in brazil and the better too, i´m about to buy a ps2 and i have no doubts i will buy this chip here cost 80 dollar, you can see more on the site

yes played the movie at full speed and looks like have a 20+ seconds of buffer we ejected the cd and played around 20 seconds after we ejected the cd. (this chip runs metal gear subtance dvd rip aparently)

I got It working.
I tested it personally and it works fine. I got my mp3's working flawlessly.

To play movies you must convert your movie file to Divx AVI format.

I got it working using my Non-Moded Ps2 using an Action Replay 2

I dont think divx could be played in a psone. The problem its the proccesor speed. The divx compression consumes a lot of resources.

The PSX has what? a 25MHz CPU? To run DivX at a good rate, you need ~200MHz....
