Question Do all PSX games use subchannels?

When I create dump my PSX game to my hard drive, should the subchannel option be always be selected?

Why should the subchannel option be selected in the first place?

I find that PSX game like Megaman X4 can play just fine without a subchannel.

How do I know if a PSX game needs a subchannel selected or not?

AFAIK only copy-protected games require the subchannel reading.

they usually crash on an odd place (menu, loading a level, early in the game) if they do...

It's better leave this option checked, both data and audio subchannel. Since we don't know which game that protected, you don't want to wasting your time re-creating the ISO don't you

Yes, thats the subchannel file. The big advantage of clone cd is that it can read subchannel data even if cdrom drive doesnt support it.

Can I run a Clone Cd's Image (.Img) or must it always be an .iso (from CDR Win)?

I also have heard about a plugin (isoburner) that makes ISO from a CD. Where can I download it?

Thanks.

I think it's better mounting an iso on a virtual drive. People has reported problems with built in iso reader in ePSXe, that won't happen with virtual drives or cd-r mooby. And both solutions allow a wider range of image file types to be used.

Actually my testing shows that epsxe iso reader is much more compatible than any virtual drives. I have few isos which show error in all virtual drive softwares but run perfectly in epsxe.
Similarly cdrmooby is really good in terms of features but compatibility still needs to improve.

And yes, clone cd images run perfectly fine with internal iso reader of epsxe.
