Red face Why do people still use Bleem?

Why the heck do people still use that prog, if you have great non-commercial emus like ePSXe?

Bleem didn't work at all for me, but ePSXe works with EVERY game I tried...and it's FREE!

So why do some guys still buy that thing? :eyes:

The official Bleem site and the emu itself no longer exist, so I fail to see how can anyone be buying it (aside from those stores that still have a very limited surplus stock). I don't think that anyone still uses Bleem, nowadays - what makes you think otherwise ?

There was a time however, when PSEmu Pro had been discontinued, VGS was out only for the Mac, and ePSXe simply didn't exist. It was then that I bought Bleem, and I must say I was quite impressed with its capabilities and frequent updates. The main reason I got Bleem, was for playing Gran Turismo (the first PSX game I bought, as I had no real PSX)

actually i think hardly anyone buys it now; it's still useful for ntsc versions of Gran Turismo and Tony Hawks, and there are probably still a few other games that work better in it. I dont use it much anymore; I still use bleemcast for gran turismo 2 though.

I could imagine people still buying it purely because it's a kind of special piece of software to own, because it has quite an interesting history (sadly with a kind of bad ending). I'm proud to have it together with VGS ..besides, there arent much other game boxes around that look like boxes for washing powder

LOL !! ...I second that !!

--edit--

I have the PAL version of GT, but it works ok. All it gives me is a warning message at the start (probably because Bleem was "set" to work with the NTSC version) but otherwise there's no problem

Actually it was done for the pc as well. Eric trout could have been the man if he would have had more time.

because bleem have the greatest speed compatibility than any emulator around, it is really useful for PCs who have low processors such us P166 and below.

....thanks for clearing this up, Samor
...I also remember about those "law-thingies"... If I'm not mistaken, some time later Connectix used "Bleem's win over Sony" court case, as a "foothold" to finally resume the selling of VGS...

bleem sucks. i hate them. they supported sony games and when sony got pissed off they hated them. then they tried to play it on a dreamcast with bleemcast and it failed since sega hardware died out stupid programmers. YOU AINT GOT NOTHING AGAINST EPSXE CREW!

The money i spent on bleem didn't worth until i used 2 months ago to pass the first chapter of valkirye profile that didn't work with epsxe. You know the bad thing about savestates but still without them i could not pass that art until i remembered something like washing powder. (The box)

I think bleem was a great emu,. and people , stop bashing it. if it was to live to today, then we would have a complete emu in our hands right now. bleem was not given the chance to develop itself as ePSXe or any other emu

we kept the demo for a little while....it was used to play Vandal Hearts 2..the experience was crappy, but at least we could play it....

Then PCSX came along....so Bleem went bye bye

Thats exactly the problem. A lot of people complain about the bleem team letting alone all the users and not making more versions.

well if they didn't sold it in teh market in the first place, it won't happen... money blind them thus, loss of valuable talent in the emulation scene...

The reason bleem! failed was thay they didn't release regular updates, ePSXe has a reason for slow releases, it programmers have something else to do, they have other lives, but as bleem! was being run as a business they had no excuse.
The other was piracy, the same thing that killed VGS, now you may blame Sony and indeed they played there part, but if everyone who used bleem! had bought it perhaps they would have been able to fight Sony.
To my mind bleem! were hobbiests trying to run a business.
