PSX FF5 runs like crap using certain settings
I have it running good at these settings on EPSXE 1.5.2: Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.68 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: RADEON 9700 Pro Resolution/Color: - 640x480 Fullscreen - [32 Bit] Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 5 - Hi-Res textures: on - Palettized tex windows: on - Garbage collection: off - VRam size: 128 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: 50 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 3 - Framebuffer texture: 1 - Framebuffer access: 1 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: on - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: on [255] - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: off - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: off [00000000] Game runs somwwhat perfect (only glitch I have is a completely black circle in tunnel vision mode but I am still able to get my character around like I can still see my character), though I am unhappy about using frame buffer textures and access set to gfx card read&moves because it's far too slow under most circumstances. My system is very powerfull and all my external settings (outside EPSXE) are perfect. Is there any way I can use those settings that are too slow? Reason I want to use those settings so badly is that there are certain special effects that look better, I have tested them extensively. I will try a different emualtor, could anyone recommend me the best suited emualtor for running FF4+5? Thanks

I think a software plug-in would be best for 2D graphics. 3D graphics cards are only optimized for 3D graphics. Personally I'd use a SNES emulator (I hated the remake of FF5) but that's just me. I think VGS can also run them, although I haven't really tried (I think I tried once).

I would only use a software plugin as last resort. Though if you recommend it I will try it. ![]() Thanks Just tried a software plugin and damn, not only is it faster at the highest quality but the IQ rocks. Thanks again Demigod.
