VGS problems with WinXP...

I am Using WinXP Home. ( With out SP1 ) with following Spec:

ASUS L1 Laptop

PIII M 1.06Mhz
380 Mb PC 133 SD Ram
20Gb HD
Intel 830 intergated graphics

I downloaded Aldo patch ( the vedio patch that seems to have every fix for VGS released so far in one )

I run it and try to play Winning Eleven 2000 U23 ( Or called ISS Pro in Other place other than Janpan )

I run it and it does seems to run ( becoz i saw the tool bar, but for that very secound i saw it then it will return back to the Desktop screen reporting there is a error, please close other current running application or try to restart the computer )

And not matter how many times i try it just doesn't work.

I manage to get it to work on my firends laptop with WinXP, although it is no longer the VGS i had in Win98, the speed, the screen, the sound is no longer there. Speed is either too slow when pooping back to WinXP and too fast when playing the game. Sound was not there.... even though there was sounds at the start of the game for a few secs.....

Are there any soloution to these problem... I know people may suggest me to use epsxe, but this emu require more resources to play and there are things that epsxe still doesn't act like a normal PSX while VGS does...............

Thinking back again.... sony did the best move to buy out the best emulator, any left with other to mature... until the sales of PSone no longer matter... like now...... do they now even care if Epsxe v2.0 would have 99% complability??

Back to the questions.... any solotuion.

Perhaps it's driver problems with your Intel integrated video?

Also, try closing any unnecessary background tasks.

Maybe it's conflicting with some app you installed (although this is unlikely). I guess the only way to know that would be to try running it on a fresh install of XP.

Perhaps it's Intel SpeedStep kicking in? But I guess the notebook is plugged in, so that shouldn't be it...

Try enabling JUST the XP patch in the Aldo's Video Patch XP.

btw, I have worse system specs than you, but VGS works like a charm just like in Win9x.

You know, you SHOULD be converting to ePSXe by now... Although VGS is still competitive due to its relative simplicity and compact size, it still gets beaten by ePSXe + kazzuya soft/PEOpS.

I'd try it on my notebook if I could, but it doesn't have enough RAM to run WinXP.

I agree with shiori.

Although I am myself a huge fan of vgs but these days it lags behind epsxe in almost all departments including compatibility. Only thing in its favour is it works well on lower specs machines as well.

so anyone having over 400 mhz processor should go for epsxe .

No..... it is just epsxe works with so many games but in some games therer are small things that doesn't work properly. Like Winning 2000 when i change a team member attacking sense it doesn't flash the plyaer on the screen...... allthough it is not a real problem but so i far i haven't had any matter like this in VGS.

Although i am not considering VGS to be extremely outdated seens 5 out of 5 Machine running VGS on XP have problems..... or running not satifactorly......

P.EOPs...... i have try that a few months ago.. ( i think that was more than half a year ago already... ^_^ )
And it seems to provide good result but i am currently using Pete DirectX 6.0 plug in ... i think is 1.68 which works quite well, and as far as i am concern P.EOPS is a software graphics accereration....... while Pete's Direct X is hardware so therefore Direct x should be faster..... although i haven't test it yet may be i will do it latter.......

eheheh...

to iwod: ePSXe IS THE BEST, even for WE/ISS soccer series. I use it since ISSProEv2 and I tried it w/ WE2k1, too w/ great results. Now I've "Pro Evolution Soccer 2" it's really the best. And I don't have a "monster" machine but an Asus notebook, the L3Tp.

So, probably for u it'd better to try ePSXe w/ P.E.Op.S. gpu to set all the other plugins (I mean, cdr and spu) and when ePSXe works, u can set the gpu w/ Pete's D3D 1.68 for better result w/ WE/ISS series and the other games.

Thx, bye
