How about an Overclocking option?

On mame and other arcade emus, there are options to Overclock the emulated cpu's.. Thereby making the games run faster or making the emulated cpu a little more powerful.. emulated cpu overclocking.. Is there a way to do that with psx emus? I wonder what would happen if you overcloced a real psx.. Would games get more frames? Or would they just go faster? I wonder because it would be great to sqeeze out more fps(actual) in psx games..

IMO an FPS rate more than 60 is only feasible in fighting games where speed and reflex reactions is of the essence. In that case, games emulated by MAME would be the best recipient of this feature. While PSX emulation would also gain from it if it were possible in the first place, it would possibly throw the timing of other components out of sync like CDR timings, i.e. if one uses a CD instead of an ISO just like in a real PSX.

Just an opinion. It might be grossly off-base, so feel free to correct me. :embl:

Yeah.. I was thinking the same thing.. The timings of all the components of the psx may get messed up.. But then, couldn't the cpu and gpu get overclocked? Would be cool.. Making a psx game that usually run at 30fps(actual) to run at 60.. Of course the timing of the cpu, gpu, spu, and other things may get messed, but imagine playing GT2 or GT1 at 60 fps rather than the normal 30 fps..
