Question Emulation stability

Does anyone know some settings for epsx and adripsx in order to insure stability? I keep messing with the plug-in settings to try and get a balance between speed and graphics, but nothing I do seems to leave them very stable. That is, they keep crashing, heh, makes playing games a bit more frustrating then I like. I would appreciate some help.

that often occures if you overclock your CPU and use a non-standard FSB clockspeed. but then again, there are many people that don't have any problems with odd FSB's. like me ^^

and try to quit all programs that are running in your system tray (wich run during startup), maybe that'll help you get a more stable emu

Erm. Do you have enable frame limit checked and have your appropriate frame rate (50 for PAL, 60 for NTSC)? That'll help a lot. If you already do, posting your settings here would help a lot.

for speed use Eternal lite 1.3 SPU, and try DX6 D3D Pete's plugins, that combination is the fastest :P

but still, ur config and system specs can help a little ^^

Firstly, I don't overclock. And secondly... my sys tray is um... cluttered -_-;; I'm pretty sure that more than anything is the problem...

My plug-in settings wouldn't help much since I change them for every game... Though only the graphics plug-in, and I use pete's open GL. Tried D3D but got a large vertical line through the screen.

Cpu wise I have a 1.3ghz p4, 386mb ram, and a 32mb TNT 2. Though I'm forced to use isos and daemons because my cd-drive is fried and my dvd drive doesn't seem to work too well with psx cds.

Sorry if this is less than concise, I'm a bit medicated

too many background apps could be the problem to being unstable, you should check the startup folder in your start menu, and don't forget the registry (Run and RunOnce). also, uninstall programs you don't use and/or disable autostartup for them
