Smile Should I get FF8 ?

Hi there,
I just bought FF7 from Wal Mart today when i saw an offer for FF8. I can get it for 30 CAN, which i consider a good price for a 4 cd psx game. Anyway. I am just seeking a piece of advice. Is FF8 worth spending money on, or shall i just leave it behind?

Well if you put aside the most boring charactors ever concieved, The Worst hero you've ever seen.

An Enemy you really have no reason to hate (who cared about Ult)

Most unrealistic background plot for every charactor (all orphans that don't remember there past)

No real explanation to why Guardian Forces caused memory loss.

Cid being "married" to edea was complete crap.

The terrible gameplay elements. Even if you decide to power up your abilities. You can just cast Guardian Force after GF after GF with no real downside.

Enemies that grow with you. So you never feel more powerful. Yup those little fire flies that you fought at level 1. You'll STILL be fighting at level 99.

Umm if you can dismiss all that. It's a good game...

Wait. No it's not.

YES! RUN TO EB AND BUY IT!!
Its a great game, you may end up redoing the game a few times . The only problem I found is that you need to wait untill your down to low health before you can use your limit break, that was freaking stupid of them.

GO GET ONE! its the ebst way to figure out wether its a good game or not, based on the criticizing issue about FF8 in the forum.

For me, its a good game that is worth buying...

I would recommend you to buy this game since it's offering.
Yeah, ChrisRay have some point there, but it's quite cheap now, and it's quite a decent game, so go buy it after you finished Xenogears or finished replaying .

It's up to you. I kind of liked the game in spite of how much I constantly bash it. It wasn't up to Final Fantasy standards, and the combat system had to be the worst idea ever, but I kind of identified with one of the characters.

It does play out like a bad soap opera though.

Quatro, FF4 and FF6 were the best of the series. I would try my very hardest to find them if I were you. Hell, send me a PM or an email if you really want help.

Quatro, yes, there are remakes of FF4, FF5, FF6, and CT on PSX. However, they are REALLY slow compared to the SNES counterparts, and the only real improvements to them are a few minor FMVs. It's really not that hard to find the FMVs on the internet though.

I would go with the SNES versions for a more pleasing experience. (And a better translation in the case of the fan translations of FF4 and FF5)

ninja is right the older ffs are the one that made square popular so you must definitely try a way to play it.
especially ff6, with almost all of the rpg elements stock in to a one game.

I agree with you, Tokimune. FF6 and FF4 are the best since almost all of the characters have their role to the end of the game.

Those games is a must!

Well, congratulation for your LAST copy of FF8.

And by the way, FF8's FMV is worth to the money. Enjoy it.
