memory card problems

whenever i save to my memory card, it acts like it saves but when i go to load it, the save isn't there.
i get the error: Warning: The memcard [(null)] has NOT been saved to disk
what can i do to fix it?

Make sure that the card is not read only? Check that it's in a directory with a 16-bit filename?

Are you running from a shortcut? If so make sure you have specified the working directory correctly.

I've observed that this happens only when I try to run it using a frontend, but disappears when I run it directly from ePSXe.exe.
