FF7. No doubt. Disclaimer: I have no PS2, can't compare with FF10. FF6 on the playstation - well, maybe it's a good game after the boooooring first 8-10 hours I have played so far before I found a more interesting way to waste my time.

Well it depends what your looking for ... okay ff7 and 9 are the more lets just say classic ff gaming experience, while 8 and 10 are the more futuristic technology - like games. So if your a real fan i would say 7 and 8 for psx and 10 just got it like 3 days ago and every day have been playing it till 5 in the morining! o ya baby 10 rocks ... if you have ps2 buy it now! if you are stuck with a ps1 like i have bnoth so whatever ... then as i said befor 7 and 8 are great 9 hhmmmmmmmm okay i guess.

O ya and as for easy ... Usually ff is kinda hard at first with sphere grids and materia and gf's but once you play it for a while it is really easy ... I garentee if you like it alot you'll be talking like me (a final fantasy freak!) yea and if you oplan on getting any final fantasy's it is a MUST to buy the strategy guids ... yes I know a major pain in the ass but I have been playing since 7 came out and i can't finish one without it. also you get all the goodies (gaurdian forces, items, weapons etc...) so buy a game and the book.

all of them are excellent except for FF adventure and FF mystic quest. Tactics is really good but really hard.. FF7 was easy enough.. but FF9 is the easiest imo. The hardest and the ebst IMO is FF6, long and meorable characters, hard bosses and puzzles. Cant ask for more. I loved FF8, i cant say its hard or easy cuz i used gameshark but it looked easy enough.

If your a begginer rpg'er then I suggest you play the FF games on the snes first.. Starting with FF2(aka FF4 in japan).. Get the anthologies for the psx.. Those should warm you up to the world of FF.. Then progress to the later FF games.. None of the story lines connect, but you will get the feel of how to play a FF game.. Don't play FF8 unless you're confident at rpgs.. It's one of the harder FF games to play because of it's magic/junction/draw system.. I found it very easy though, but I am a FF game veteran so..

IMO FF9 is too much like FF7 - as if Square found that people did not like the more "serious" looking FF8 and tried to go back to something people liked better - but in the end it's a typical "part 2". I played it to the end, can's say I don't like it, but I feel no need to play it again - while I played FF7 4 or 5 times.

i use to hate rpgs, and i decided to try out ff9 for kicks cause i was bored this summer. I got ff9 and i've actually gotten in to it. i still think the gameplay is slow, as my favorite games r the Gran Turismo series (the reason i bought ps in the first place). I'm halfway thru the game and now epsxe won't load the 3rd cd (hopefully its a bug that can be fixed in a new release) but overall I'd say ff9 is enjoyable. as i said i've always hated rpgs so i think u might like ff9 too.

I'd recommend FF7 for beginners. It's pretty easy to play (not nearly as complex as FF8), relatively fast-paced (battles are a lot faster than FF9) and has a great story. You can also try FF4 (FF2 in the US) for a more classic Final Fantasy game. FF6 is also a great game (although somewhat boring in the beginning). Here's a basic breakdown of the FF games I've played and the ratings for them: Final Fantasy (NES) - Rating: 7/10 The original Final Fantasy was pretty simple by today's standards. It had no story and had a round-based battle system. It had a few classes such as the fighter, thief, white wizard, and black wizard. It's a pretty difficult game though and isn't recommended for beginners It's pretty outdated but it's one of the classics. Final Fantasy II (NES) - Rating: 5/10 Final Fantasy II was a very different game from the first one, and from the rest of the series as well. It was even more of a deviation from the standard than FF8 was. It had no experience points at all and used weapon/spell proficiencies to gain higher level spells (use the Fire spell a hundred times and it turns into Fire 2). It had a simple story with fixed characters but had no classes like the first one. This game isn't recommended for beginners either, and isn't representative of the FF series in general. This game only came out in Japan. Unless you can read Japanese you will need to acquire the ROM and the english patch for it. Final Fantasy III (NES) - Rating: 8/10 Final Fantasy III was a milestone in Final Fantasy. It was the standard to which all future FF games would follow. It had a modern battle system, introduced Chocobos, and introduced many of the abilities of the classes. It was the first game to use a "job" system (FF5 and FFT are the other two) and had many of the classic classes such as the Fighter, Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, etc. It's story was a bit weak and the game was a bit too difficult in certain areas but on the whole I found it to be quite enjoyable. I recommend this one to any FF fan but for beginners it may be too much. This game wasn't released in the US either. If you can't read japanese you're going to have to use a translation patch on the ROM to play it. Final Fantasy IV (SNES) (FF2 in the US) - Rating: 10/10 This game is considered one of the greatest FF games ever conceived. This is one of the classic FF games, and personally, the way FF is supposed to be. It had many memorable characters with their own distinct classes and abilities, a great story and a nice soundtrack. Its graphics are a bit disappointing (it was originally supposed to be for the NES) and the battle system is a bit off but it`s a very good game on the whole. I highly recommend this game, either for veterans or beginners. The US version (FF2) is the easy version of the game, while the Japanese version (FF4) is the hard version. There`s a translation patch available for FF4 and it`s recommended you play that one, since the US version misses out on some parts of the plot. Final Fantasy V (SNES) - Rating: 8/10 Another classic FF game. This game has its roots in FF3 for NES, but adds a decent plot and better graphics. Like FF3 it uses the job system where you can pick and choose different classes for the characters. The classes are more defined this time around and the battle system is perfect (spells like slow and haste actually work, unlike in FF4). The plot may be a bit thin but it's still a great game. It also makes a great reference, as it contains all the spells and abilities of all the FF classes (white magic, black magic, blue magic, time magic, summon, song, dance). FF5 was not released in the US. Unless you can read Japanese you will have to acquire the ROM and patch it with the RPGe patch. Final Fantasy VI (SNES) (FF3 in the US) - Rating: 10/10 Many people consider this game to be the best FF game ever created. It had an awesome plot, great soundtrack, and many unforgettable characters. It also had a great battle system, although you could sort of cheat your way through a lot of the bosses. I highly recommend this game to just about anyone. Final Fantasy VII (PSX/PC) - Rating: 10/10 Final Fantasy VII was the first 3D FF game and the first FF game on the PSX. FF7 was one of the great FF games. It had great graphics, an awesome plot with many shocking twists (one particular event at the end of disc 1 comes to mind ), a great soundtrack and a good battle system (the materia system was one of the best systems ever made). Aside from the blank slate system it is an awesome game and highly recommended for beginners.Final Fantasy VIII (PSX/PC) - Rating: 8/10 Final Fantasy VIII was probably the most graphically realistic FF game on the PSX. It had great graphics, especially the FMVs and had a classic love story. The only major complaint I have with it is the battle system. The junction system was rather complicated and the battles were boring. Most of the time spent was on drawing magic from enemies. It also had an overly futuristic feel to it as well and was entirely too easy. It's not a bad game but deviates significantly from the classic FF formula. I don't recommend it to beginners though, due to its complex nature and the less than exciting battles. Final Fantasy IX (PSX) - Rating: 8/10 With FF IX Square tried to return to the original FF concept (FF4). They combined old-school elements with new-school gameplay and this game is the result. FF9 didn't really make that great of an impression on me but it does have its merits. It uses defined classes like in FF4 (no more blank slate characters) but I felt the battles were entirely too slow. It's a lot more challenging than FF7 or 8 though and is more faithful to the original concept. It's worth playing but there are better games to play. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES) - Rating: 3/10 This has to be the horrible FF game of them all. It was meant to be a beginner's game but lacks horribly in all elements that make up a good RPG. It has hardly no plot at all, terrible graphics and a skewed battle system. I don't recommend this game to anyone. Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) - Rating: 10/10 This game isn't really Final Fantasy, it's more like Tactics Ogre. You fight on an open battlefield like in TO but using FF classes. It's a very good game (although somewhat unbalanced), it has a great plot and an awesome soundtrack. It's not representative of the FF series though.

i believe fft would have been much more fun if they had bigger battlefields and more units... i loved shining force cause it was like my own mini war... i controlled 16 units at a time... and in fft i had to go down to 5... i would give fft about an 8 specifically for that reason
