um, this isn't even news...it is just a comparison of Resident Evil 1 on the ps1 to GC ....and the article dates back to september 14, 2001 :eyes:

btw, RE1 GC is a great game...but hardly news worth now, considering the game came out months ago :confused:

Gamecube is in a whole other league to the original playstation. the arcticle compares a game, like comparing a remake of final fantasy from snes to playstation. i'd like to see a company bring out an identicle game taking advantage of each next gen consoles strengths and weaknesses then we'd see who wins.

one thing i've noticed though, loads of ps2 games are coming out that are remakes from the PC!! Oni, Deus Ex etc. whats up with that?

Because the games were so popular on the PC, they think they merit a PS2 release. However, in the UK, enough people that own PS2's own Deus Ex capable PCs so that it backfired. I walked into Virgin the other day, and tehy had literaly hundereds of copies of Deus Ex on sale for £15 a piece (ass opposed to £44 which is the normal price)

Now how did I miss this one? The link you gave is just a stupid comparision of PS1 RE and GC RE, and has nothing to do with the PS2.

But as your thread reads; I'll say that PS2 is better at now cos of the variety in its software library. However, the only thing I want which is on the GC is RE; read my sig.

Again this comparison totally depends on your taste of games. GC does have all the ingredients but PS2 right now is cooking it nicely. Still I may get a GC, perhaps a Panasonic Q NEXT year: if more of my-type-a-games are released on it.

hehe, what are you saying? graphics is the only thing that matters nowadays, because gameplay got already lost somewhere between 1995 and 1999

Maybe you're confusing gameplay with pre-rendered movies and fmv's?

graphics are not everything! Look at the XBox, it has the best graphics but a lot, and the console isnt as good as ps2. So gameplay is very important and is something that ps2 does have

a lot of people say the GCN doesn't have good gameplay. The problem is, most of their opinions are based on games that really do have bad GCN controls (almost anything made by EA, Disney Interactive, or Ack-it's-lame (acclaim))

The thing is, as I called over in www.gamenikki.com 's old forums, most developers try to shove PS2 controls onto the GCN controller. But that doesn't work.

All of the PS2's buttons are made readily available for the player. 4 front buttons, 4 pad buttons, 2 analogs, a digital, and 2 more buttons under the analogs (R3, L3)

The GCN however puts it's L2 and R2 buttons under the L1 and R1 buttons. The Z-trigger as well is also oddly placed for a reason.

As expalained by the Great Miyamoto himself, the GCN controller was designed to make Game developers put out different kinds of games. Lets face it, almost all games across the PSX, PS2, X-box, DC, Saturn, (and GCN to some extent) all play the same.

Nintendo's focus on a different type of controller is ignored by most development teams who just shove the PS2 controls onto the GCN frame. Well, that's not how the controller (GCN) was designed.

The Z-trigger is meant to be a Menu button (Luigi's Mansion) or "2nd action" button. (Smash Brothers, RE) Not a primary action button. But many developers, still high on the PS2 L1/R1 and N64 Z-trigger go ahead and assign it a main action function (Spyhunter, SSX Tricky) which makes many games that play fine on the PS2, annoy the fricken **** out of GCN gamers.

One of the things I really appreciated about RE when I got it was that Capcom had taken the time to make control schemes that while still being annoyingly Resident Evil, were suited to the GCN controller...

As far as graphics and physical power go, the average person here is smarter (computer wise) than the people I normally meet. So you already know all the numbers...

but if you don't, I encourage you to take a real good look at the texturing and poly count capabilities of the GCN vs. the X-box... also keep in mind that no true benchmarks exist to compare 1-st ram to...

and as an ending. Which is more powerful

a 733 mhz 32bit Celeron

or a

485mhz (32/32)/64 bit hypertheading G5 derived CPU


I will simply say this. After what I saw at E3, whether or not the X-box is the most powerful system will be called into serious contention this winter...


Not that it matters. The X-box is already a flop overseas, and I encourage you to check out the Numbers Nvidia is quoting over at www.nvidia.com

I'm with Gamespot on this one. By next June, the X-box will be dead, and it will only be PS2 and GCN. Good thing I have the last two.

Even if those were screenshots on the ps2 they wouldn't have mattered. what the hell is with capcom anywayz they are focusing all there attention on the GC that sucks we want resident evil!!!

Capcom isn't focusing ALL their attention. You get Onimusha and Devil may Cry on the PS2.

But I could care less about these games. I want RE too and hence I am going to get a GC.

Pleaseee. You know what's going to happen if you post threads like this.. The PS2's hardware totally sucks compared to the Dreamcast, GC, and XBox. I have absolutely no respect for the PS2's hardware at all. Some of the PS2's games are cool, however. Not to mention that Sony killed the Dreamcast. I hate them even more than I did before
