Angry Kiki Joy PSX-USB Adapter XP Problem

I just recieved my Soyo Kiki-Joy adapter and it won't work AT ALL in XP. The drivers that come with the disk don't seem to do anything. Simply plugging it in causes a "An error occured while installing this device, it may not function properly" message and i get that annoying yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager. Nothing seems to help. This sucks. All of the reviews i've read (and opinions on this and other message boards) say that it works flawlessly with XP yet i can even get Windows to install the thing right.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

edit: In case anyone's wondering, the properties tab for the device in Device Manager says:

Quote:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Try uninstalling the drivers if you installed them already.. Then plug at psx gamepad onto the kiki-joy(don't plug the kiki-joy into the usb yet).. After which, plug it into the usb port.. Don't install the drivers.. Check your controller properties..

Thumbs down

I am having the same exact problem as _leech_.. The kiki piece of crap does not work..Same code 10 error and yellow exclamation. I tried in Windows ME same problem. It worked fine in Windows 98 for some reason but I am not willing to go back for this $9.95 piece of junk...I just ordered 2 other kinds of adpaters...We will see which one ends up working...I am kinda mad b/c this page/board and other reviews lead me to belive this adapter works no prob in XP or a least newer windows. Wrong!! I bought 3, tried them on at least 5 kinds of pc and macs...none of the 3 works properly...What a waste...If anybody get this kiki thing working plz let us know....Thx for the rant

My Kiki Joy works fine in winXP. The force feedback is a little screwy, but not too bad. Hopefully Soyo will make some new drivers for it.

Hmm... Seems weird, but the Kiki-joy will not accept being anything other than the 1st or second controller.. If you try and set it up as a 3rd controller or more then it doesn't install correctly.. I suggest you guys try connecting it to another usb port.. My kiki-joy won't work on two of my usb's while it works on my other 2..

You could always go with the Radio Shack PSX to usb adapter. It cost $10 and I have no problems with it. I am using Win98 and just loaded the standard usb drivers from the Win98 disk.
