they are used for enabling the emus to run. bios are part of your consoles that were extracted for the emus to run.

The BIOS is a chip that contains the basic input and output instructions. Every computer system has a BIOS, it is necessary to boot and run the computer. The PSX BIOS is nearly impossible to emulate (Sony intentionally designed it that way) so most PSX emulators require the BIOS dump in order to run.

well you could download the emulator on this site... but for the BIOS... look somewhere else and DON'T ask for the bios, you might not like the result.

Well if you have the proper equipment you can dump the BIOS from your playstation, but it's a rather complex process. An easier alternative would be to find one on the net but you're on your own from there. Try using a search engine like www.google.ca for it.

As far as I know, the only emu's that do not work in Windows XP are VGS and Bleem!. You would not want to use them anyway. ePSXe works great in Windows XP.

Usually in your Video plugin there will be a setting to enable Frame Limiting. Set this to Auto or (60fps) for NTSC games and (50fps) for PAL games. Make sure you enable XA sound in your Sound settings to get MDEC music.

If you want Game Shark codes you can go to http://www.cmgsccc.com/ This is the Game Shark Code Creators Club. It's awesome.

You don't use THAT, you download a program called PEC found at www.emucheater.com

BIOS = Basic Input Output System

It's a fixed part of software (ie. it's part of the hardware) that is started when a machine is switched on and enables other software (operating systems, games, etc.) to run.

You could download different kinds of plugins for the video and sound so that you can choose what's compatible for you.
