Red face About © PSinex

I am sorry to keep people outdated about the © PSinex status.

Since the release of the Revision 5, I must say that progress is really slow, mainly because there's no motivation on the team. I must say that lots of things are missing from this emulator to become competitive, such as more speed, subchannel support and save states.

Despite those backdraws I will try once agin to re-make the emulator from scratch, and I hope to get extra help from my team members which currently are shunt & neomax.

A recompiler engine to produce more speed, is being worked on by neomax, but I rarely speak to him and we cannot get in contact whenever there's the need to.

The CD-ROM engine has received a preliminary subchannel support, work of shunt who has implemented pete's new functions. He reported that Final Fantasy 9 UK gets past the LibCrypt4 code checking.

Crash Bandicoot 2 is giving me headaches. There is one unknown memory address being called which after that screws the whole program proccess. I will try to work on that and see if I can get past that point.

My intention on the re-make of © PSinex is to make it a bit more professional. I will add a full components debugger, which will include the following debugging areas: R3000A, COP0, COP2C, COP2D, CD-ROM. Since subchannel support is on the makes, I just hope to get it fully working with the help of shunt. Then neomax *finally* might come up with an advanced recompiler to speed up the emulation, and last but not least, I myself will make the save states support.

With those in mind, and some courage to re-make it from scratch, © PSinex might come to the surface again. Feel free to leave your thoughts about it, and make requests for future ideas here, just before the re-make of the 1st official © PSinex release. Yes you heard me correctly, last versions released were BETA's.

Wish us luck and... skillz!

Nice to get some info about psinex.I always liked this emu.
I hope neomax is successful in providing the speed up(thats something I have been looking for some time).
So lots of good luck to the team and as before I am always ready to help.

Sad to know the team lost their motivation.

IMHO, the love of emulation and perfection mind was the most important source of programming emulator. I wish PsYcHoJaK
and his team will gain motivation again by enjoy the leisure, games, fun and the feeling when they create another monster that can beat the real PS.

Motivation will be found on the make of it

Just one question here. A skinned emulator to have the feel of a winamp like program would be nice or out of field? Nothing to do with functionality just to make its appeal better and more professional.

Hi Psychojak,

I think a skinned emulator is a nice idea, since it's kinda fun to personalize the look of programs on your computer

Nice feature.I supported it when it was first implemented in psinex and I still support it.

Good Luck!

I'm really glad to hear about the dynamic recompiler! I know it not technically an emulator so to speak, but it's unbellievable the kind of speed that you can get with one. To me, it seems like an emulator done the "right way." But what do you do about self-modifying code?

Its not my kind of area but self-modifying code is being detected on any transaction of the RAM on the psx emulator, and then it flushes the memory map of the dynamic recompiler... neomax can correct me here if some terms are put wrongly.

Its funny that you mention you're not experienced on the area, because one 'typical' emulator user cannot know about such 'in-depth' matters such as the self-modifying code
