Oh... So he's still working on his "terrific' plugin?

Lewpy, if you see this post, can you tell us what's the status?

Okay, here is an "un-official" list of things I am working on:-

1) Resolving as many specific game issues as I can (depends on whether I have the game, etc.)
2) Implementing true PSX screen sizing (no need for Experimental Screen Sizing, hopefully)
3) Upgrading software routines to those in P.E.Op.S. v1.5
4) Slight GUI overhaul (started months ago, and still no finished )
5) Switchable 16/32bit colour & FSAA for Voodoo4/5 cards ... not sure if switchable FSAA will work, as initial attempts at using Glide3 calls failed to enable FSAA This may be driver bugs, which clearly will never be fixed now.
6) Various miscellaneous tweaks that Pete has implemented over the last 9 months and kindly told me about
7) More dynamic caching

The list goes on, and I may have forgotten some important things, but I am also in danger of falling in to feature-creep (adding a feature, and while doing that thinking up another feature, and while doing that thinking up another featue ... and never getting round to releasing anything ), so must draw a line somewhere.

Progress is slow, due to many factors (less free time, hardware problems, bouts of low enthusiasm, new games to play, etc.) but it _is_ getting there.

It wil not be an "uber" release, but hopefully it will get me back in to the swing of things

Wow!! That is great to hear.. Can't wait for your next release of the glide pluggin lewpy.. I was wondering if there is a way you could fix the blur effects in games like MGS.. Sometimes they come out fine and sometimes they show up as a softwarish type mess.. It may just be the voodoo 5's since it does the same thing with petes gpu pluggin.. Weird.. Another thing is the swirls in FF7.. They only appear on the world map about 70% of the time.. Other times is just a still picture of the scene.. The swirls don't work in towns or dungeuns.. These are just some minor things I have noticed.. Yeah and that new Fps dropping bug in FF7 and epsxe 1.5.1

Thanks for your glide gpu pluggin.. Without it, I dont' what we voodoo freaks would do.. hehe..

This is "by design" It's just not feasable to emulate most PSX VRAM effects in Glide, so I use software routines to do this emulation ... hence why it looks like software (pixelated), and the colour is slightly different. It's only used when necessary (and when OSD is set to the higher settings), but MGS uses it quite a bit (underwater, cut-scene motion-blur).
As for FF7, I will be investigating the new slowdown, and may have another look at the "swirlies".

Hey, I found another mysterious slowdown.

In FF9, when there are several characters on the screen (Now, I mean outside of battle), the SPU starts slowing down. Now, I'm using Eternal SPU version 1.20, and I know it uses a lot of horsepower, but it only happens with your plugin, and I've got 1.5ghz, and I don't even get the character slowdown when using a soft GPU. What the heck?!

Oh yeah! I forgot! How come you've never had a scanline option? I think it's pretty neat. Then again, I've thought some other things were neat, but everyone else had the opposite opinion on those things than I did.

So, anyway, keep up the good work! Besides, it's nice to be able to pity those GeForce card users with 2.0GHz machines that are going "I can't get fast swirly effects!", since all we Glide users have to do is change like two settings and we get stable swirl-speed-rates!

True. But I was refering to the people who foolishly got rid of their Voodoo cards, and are stuck with just their GeForce cards (READ: non-multi-card users!)

Oh yeah:LONG LIVE 3Dfx!!

I will never get rid of my Voodoo3. But I will still upgrade to maybe a GeForce4 ONE day......... Probably when the GeForce6 is out!

harhar... if you would read Lewpys post more carefully, you would notice that such swirl effects are _not_ done by Glide in his plugin, but in software. So as a matter of fact you _will_ need a fast cpu to get the effects fast in his plugin (of course it depends on the effect as well... some swirls will need just a few software drawing, but underwater, etc, will need much, much software drawing).

So, you can't damn the GeForce cards for being slow with that effects, instead you have to damn me for not including a auto-selective full vram prim software drawing in my ogl/d3d plugin.

Of course I don't care much... I like the way I have solved many of the psx framebuffer problems in hardware, and usually the effects will be fast enuff to enjoy the game (and all effects are in nice OGL hires, ehehe)

Hey pete I actually fully apreciate the "Full Vram primitives" option. I find it quite useful

I doubt there will be a GeForce 6 considering nVidia have stated there will not be a GeForce 5

Yeah, I'm waiting for the 5 equivelent. They seem to go in groups of 2. Riva ZX & 128, TNT & 2, GeForce & 2, GeForce 3 & 4. I'm not going to bother with the 4 TBH. I want to get one which properly implements 3DFX tech.
