whats better VGS or epsxe?
I have a playable retail version of VGS and found out that VGS really is compatible with large number of games and it runs them at a real playstation speed unlike epsxe, but the graphics is kinda ugly? BTW whats better for me to use? I find epsxe better in terms of ONLY graphics if only there is a genius programmer to do a new emulation project and based the new one on VGS's emulation core and combined with the graphics of epsxe

I can get epsxe to run all my game at perfect psx speed and nearly perfect sound.. Epsxe all the way..
1. It's free 2. Graphics are awesome 3. Tweakable 4. Savestates 5. it's free 6. Still being developed.. (CVG is dead) 7. Rumble support

VGS = PSX emulator
ePSXe = PSX enhancer As an emulator VGS rocks but epsxe just looks so damn good. In many people's opinions it's better than the PS itself! Me, I like both emulators. I like VGS for the accuracy of the emulation, and I like epsxe for its awesome graphics.

Only use VGS for the hard-to-emulate-perfectly games like Tron Bonne, and also if you have a crappy computer like I did just a few months ago.

I agree with DemiGog79
I use VGS for one simple fact, it great for dummies like me.
ePSXe just takes far to long to configure, for example. With Final Fantasy 9, if I get the game to play a the correct speed the battle are slower than a butchers dog. If the battles run correctly the game runs far to fast. I just don't have the patience to configure ePSXe. So if you would like to spend more time configuring than playing, use ePSXe. If you would like to play games straight away, the way they were meant to be played. Also in a way VGS is still being developed, in the form of illegal hacks. |

Yeah.. with the proper configuration and pluggins, the emulation in epsxe(graphics and sound) is damn near perfect and then some..

Bleh, both are good, but I like VGS better because it runs the actual cds at the correct speed with not frameskips or anything. No matter what config I use with EPSXE for cdrom, I can never get it good, not even at a decent speed, forcing me to waste hd space by putting my games on it as isos just to play them at the right speed. It would be neat if they could use the cdrom part of vgs with epsxe, that would be good..

The system requirements for ePSXe are higher, but if you have a half-decent machine, you can run pretty much all games at full speed, no frameskip with better graphics and sound. An Athlon650 with a Ge2MX will run FF9 without skipping frames in 1024x768
