PS1 backups with my CD burner

It's been a long time since I've made backups of my PS1 games for use on my modded console and I'm pretty sure I used my CD burner to backup Suikoden II in the past. However, I can't remember which software I was using or which write method.

My CD burner supports burning at x1-x4 but can't burn with RAW DAO (only DAO, RAW SAO, RAW SAO+SUB and TAO) According to my research I shouldn't have been able to make successful backups without RAW DAO, but I am not convinced of this.

My questions are therefore:

1. Would it be technically possible to burn a backup PS1 game using my CD burner?
2. If so which write method should I be using?
3. Which software should I be using?
4. Will any of the above change if I am burning protected PS1 games?
5. Is there anything else I should watch out for burning my PS1 games with this burner?

Here is a system info report from Alcohol 120% on my CD burner:

This is a little grey area, but i will answer i guess. too the best of my knowledge anyway.

1. Would it be technically possible to burn a backup PS1 game using my CD burner? I think so. I usually use a new DVD burner though, as It can burn just about anything.
2. If so which write method should I be using?Try out the different ones, i mean whats the cost of a few cd's now?
3. Which software should I be using?I use alcohol for my ps2 games most of the time. Either that or nero.
4. Will any of the above change if I am burning protected PS1 games? It may, i didnt know there were protected games. But if you make an iso then burn it, it should be fine i think
5. Is there anything else I should watch out for burning my PS1 games with this burner?use slow burn speed. Certain brand cd's can work better than others. Im poor so i use standard 700mb cd's

Or another method i use is if it dosnt work burning directly from an iso, make a virtual drive and make a copy from that.

Even though CDRs are cheap I still don't want to be burning coasters. I was hoping for a technical explanation on whether RAW SAO / RAW SAO + SUB / DAO (without RAW) could successfully duplicate the image. From what I have read so far through google as long as the session is ended in RAW SAO their might not be any problems. But then again I always find it better in the long run to ask people more experienced than myself.

use slow burn speed.
That certainly won't be a problem for my CD burner

I'm poor too. I only have Sony CDRs and Verbatim's. Just can't afford those Taiyo Yuden's!

I tried that and got "focus servo error" and disc was coaster. Got the same hardware related error in CloneCD.
