Different image filetypes
is there any different between any of the filetypes, like iso, bin, raw, etc, and what is that cue file that I keep seeing with the bin file? One other minor question: When burning with all of these filetypes, does it result in an exact copy of the image? OOH, one more question after that. Someone I know had said that you needed to make a 1 to 1 copy for a backup psx game to work. Is that correct? Full of questions, ain't I? |

Different CD Replicator will produce different ISO. CloneCD will have img and sub, CDRwin with other format. Technically they are the same except for some CD Replicator. Yes. we need to make 1:1 copy.

Yes, I know, I've demonstrated all sorts of magical n00biness. All I know is how to make a cd from an image. I haven't been able to find such an option. Tried to use nero 5.5 and the cd burning sofrware my computer came with. Can't find any option having to do with ratios.

Oh, well then my bad burns may simply be from the created ISO and not from the prog. Interesting. Well, I have been messing around with some of the cd burning progs around the internet, and I'm sure I'll find a way that works. and a smiley face thrownin for good measure.

Many differences exist between the different image types... For the best results, make a RAW or BIN image. The way you'll know is if it says it's in CD-XA/Mode2 or if the sector size is 2352 bytes. An ISO image reads only the first track where the files reside and has a setor size of 2048 bytes. Obviously 2048 != 2352 so when you make an ISO image, you lose data and can experience data corrpution. For instance, I made a BIN of Einhander then used bin2iso on it. It played OK but the XA audio was severely messed up or didn't play at all. If you make an image of a cd with CD-DA audio (ie the tracks you play in your CD player), you won't be able to hear that audio from the CD image. The exception is if you make a BIN/CUE image and use Daemon tools; then you can mount that image and use a CD-ROM plugin (NOT a CD image plugin) to play the audio from those images. So, to review... Make a binary image with a program that supports CD-XA (2352 bytes/sector - Isoburner and CDRWin support this) and do not make ISO images as you may have problems. And do NOT use bin2iso as you'll have the same problems with that image as you did with an ISO. |

Does that mean when I use clone cd to make an image and use run iso option or daemon tools I am not getting cdda sounds?
