Crazy FF9 problems.

Hello all, I'm new to the emu scene, though I'd like to think I'm pretty computer literate.

So it all started when I downloaded ePSXe with Pete's openGL plugin, the Eternal sound plugin and the standart CDR plug in. I love the Final Fantasy games, so I put in FF9, and it worked! I was over Joyed. FF8 also worked! Minor tweaking required (the framerate was going nuts) I then proceeded to play me some FF9 and got to the point where your wacky black mage walk north, past the couple of stores and has to load a new screen. (One screen switch already worked fine) I walked north, and the screen turned black. Music kept playing. Oh, how awful that was.
So I like a good boy come over here and start reading all the threads. I find the FF9 FAQ. The FAQ says save states may cause that or having the MDECS on. SO tried all possible combination of getting to that point withhout using the save state. THre was no option for any MDEC (waht does that stand for exactl;y anyway?) So I got ePSexecutor and found the option there. but! It would crash when I was selecting that option as off, and it would not find the ps BIOS (though it was RIGHT there) so I re-down loaded, killed all the reg entries, rebooted my box, reinstalled all ePSXe, all the plug ins and all kinds of goofy combinations, and now it wont eve RUN THE CD! what is going on? I'm fairly cerain I did not screw the registry up, I only deleted the entried that were related to ePSXe and executor, and everything else on my system still works. (otehr video games, the CD rom, sound all that.)
Any suggestions? I bet I should jsut start from a clean slate. So does anyone have a setup they can recommend that thye know works on maybe another emulator? Or a something else? THere are so many options on these things and not always do the faqs I found relate.
I'd love some assistance and would be much obliged, thanx in advance...

I forgot what MDEC is stand for but another word is FMV or movie.
Before you do anything else (delete reg, reinstall or whatever) try to use another FF9 CD(borrow, steal etc.). I assume you use CD1.
Get another and try...

FF9 works fine with me..
If the other CD doesn't work, try to play around with the config.FF9 FF9 FF9

CD do not seem to be the issue.

Yeah, I tried the other CD, and also FF8, they all seem to have the same problem, and FF8 also worked before...

It has to be your config. Tell you what, go head and repost your problem, then past your GFX config on the post and if your lucky Lord Kane will see it and help you. He helps me out of all sorts of jams.

Actually, heheh...

So I broke down and bought a play station2, heheh. Final Fintasy X is AAAMAZING by the way... but that game crashes at the same point on the PS2, so I bet I have a bad CD... any idea what I could do? I bought FF9 used... I even tried to sue that goofy CD repair device on the cd and it still crashed on the ps2 just like on my computer...

try to make an iso and see if it will skip that part, or possibly find someone nice enough to send you a memcard save after that part.
