Question Final Fantasy IX on VGS?

I was just wondering if it's possible to run FFIX on VGS...

Questions:
Do I need a patch, and how do I apply it?
PPF patch, what is that, and is it needed for playing FFIX on VGS?
Anything else I didn't think of?

I have a cloned cd version of FFIX PAL. I have original CVGS....I think...

You might also want to check out a game called Tokimeki Memorial.

anyway, all you need is the Psytek FF9 fix 5, games.txt, VGS resolution patch as well as a copy of VGS. Patch VGS using the Psytek fix, put games.txt in the same folder as the patched VGS, put the respatch as well in the same directory. run the respatch, check the boxes for video fixes, and run VGS from the respatch.

....Got it? Good.

Unhappy

I've tried everything in this thread and others and I can't get VGS to play FF9. Actually, it only won't play the movies, which, essentially keeps the game from being played.
I have version 1.4 of the VGS. plz help me.....

Do I want the patch 1.41 for VGS 1.4? VGS says it's v1.4, so I got that patch. I'll try all the others too (I can just reinstall it anyways).

You have to upgrade your VGS to version 1.4.1 from 1.4....Connectix once had that patch up on their site, but i don't think it's there anymore, with them officially ending support for VGS this January.

There are other sites which have the upgrade packages, maybe you still can find them. Try using search engine coz I've seen them somewhere but I couldn't remember the site address(es)

True; but then again, it's Sony's property now.

I found an upgrade to v141 for my mac version of vgs. Then I found several patches all from shin's site or some such. I applied each one separately, and one of them solved my movie problem.

Now that I can play the game w/VGS on my mac, I see other bugs. The biggest one is the battle menus, which are almost invisible. They flash on and off when it's time to input a command. Also, sounds get cut off during gameplay, and some sprites dissapear sometimes, it's hard to explain.

Let's just say it... ePSXe rulez...and

VGS suck!! Well... at least for playing FF9, my GT2 works perfectly on VGS...(which I'm very grateful for, cuz it won't work properly on ePSXe....)

If you got a relatively moderate computer (500 Mhz, 128 MB RAM, 16 MB memory on the graphics card ...like me), you could switch to ePSXe for playing Final Fantasy 9..... wich indeed works 99% perfect.

(as far as I know ePSXe aren't availeable on mac, too bad)

PS: use Pete's DX6 driver...

That's quite ironic, because those are the specs of the comp I'm building for myself. It's got everything SCSI except for the floppy drive.
I'm only having a little problem finding all the drivers I need.....
