An idea... demo-maker...
Sometime ago, I opened a Chrono Cross savefile on a FF8 game and it worked! I was able to walk around and play cc until the cd was needed... A few weeksago, I heard about MagicLight (or something like it) that created a limited demo rom from a commercial rom for GameBoy Advance... Wouldn't be cool to see the same thing with PSX ? Here's what I mean: A demo-creater would create a savefile and wile the game plays from that point, it would log wich sectors are used. Then, an utility would create a small iso file that contain only sectors needed to play a part of a game. The emulator would load the savefile and the special iso. This way, we could create demo games that won't be piratly distribued. It's just an idea... |

Prafull already discussed this a couple of months back. Anyways the main problems with this is inconsitancy. Depending on how much data the game stores in memory at the time depends how useful this is. In some case you only get to walk a couple of screens. Others almost all the game is stored in memory. Legal issues over this are about as bad as bios distrubution.

Jyzero, I guess its a very good idea.I already tested a few games and write down about it in few posts.Infact we are already running a sort of save states club .You can also check out screenshots from various games my friends sent me (see screenshots section). For more details search "save states" . Neojag and betamax are quite right about it being helpful to programmers and problems with legal issues. Note* If any genious tries to make a so called 'Demo Maker" ,I would surely love to help though.
