ffxii2mov US Version

I had found a way to edit the tools from Project Fao, here is the result, a FFXII Video Extractor for the US Retail Version.

I'm able to make a version for every FFXII version and maybe able to make the same for the other tools.

For other FFXII Versions, i need the first 5 MB from the Iso itself to get the main table where the Video data is.

PS, the US Version has 1 Video more then the JAP Version, i had createt a seperate tool to extract this video.
Attached Files
File Type: rar ffxii2movUS.rar (113.2 KB, 1083 views)

If you could possibly type up a tutorial w/ regards to how you went about doing this, I'd really appreciate it. I've attempted trying to rip this game using a hex editor for months on end, but came up with nothing. So I ended up giving up. But I'm always eager to learn newer more better methods for ripping fmv's from ps2 games. So it'd be great if you could impart some of your knowledge with us. Like for example, where can I locate the video table within the iso using a hex editor? How do I identify it/read it? How do I apply the information from that table to rip the fmv's? Things like that are stuff I personally would like to know.

*edit*
btw, this ripper only rips the 40th fmv for me. In other words, it skips fmv's 1-39. Are there some differences within the collectors edition of FFXII and the normal version? Because as of now, it doesn't seem to work properly for the collectors edition (unless it's only supposed to rip the 40th fmv).

first, in order to get it to work, you must verify that the FFXII DVD is exactly
4.066.508.800 Bytes or it shows up a "Wrong Disk" error

the 40 Video is a seperate, because this tools was based to only work with Japanese Version and there is no 40. Video, so i had to mad a second tool to get this video, use the "ffxii2movUS.exe" to get Video 1 - 39 and "ffxii2movUS_Video40.exe" to get the 40.

second, for FFXII it's not really easy to explain for you, but this game has the hardest table i've ever seen.

first of all, all files are hidden on the DVD, also the table, it's on LBA 372, and 256 KB in size.

a cant really explain you this table. i'ts based on 3 Tables,

Table 1: File Formats (exactly 37 Formats, 2 are empty)
Table 2: File LBA
Table 3: File Size ; Compressed/Uncompressed

for videos, it's Format 28 in Table 1 this let you know with Table 2 and 3 where all videos are and how big they are.

The Videos itself are 2 Files for 1 Video, the M2V and the MHE
this M2V is no standard M2V so you must split it into Video and Audio
the MHE is a Table where parts of this video are explained.

see this picture
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6...7021158ig5.jpg
it's really a hard table

First off, thanks for the reply. I realize I didn't notice the rar file had actually contained two separate applications. That's where I made my mistake. So I got it to work now. Sorry for that.

With regards to your explanation, it made a lot more sense to me than you might have thought though there is undoubtedly a lot of information that didn't make sense as well. But I tend to learn a lot of what I don't understand on my own with enough time and research. What I'm really curious about now are the programs you used to put this all together. For example, what was the application you used in the attached pic on your previous post? Is just about everything you have done here able to be done with a hex editor?

You see, My current goal is to see if I can use any of the information you tell me about here to see if I can rip the fmv's to Tekken5--another ps2 game with seemingly many hidden fmv files with no obvious mpeg-2/m2v headers in sight.

Try giving dsfgd the first 5mb from an iso of your version of FFXII. DVD Decrypter is a program that can be used to make an iso of the game, and File splitter is a program that can split the iso into pieces of 5mb each. Once you've done that, just upload the 5mb file somewhere. Hopefully dsfgd will take a look at it and make another modified version of the extractor for you (and everyone else with the same version of FFXII that you have).

*edit*
a thousand apologies for not saying this sooner. But THANK YOU so much dsfgd for all your hard work. Seriously. I had honestly thought that I was never going to get my hands on direct rips of the fmvs from the NA version of FFXII until you came along.

...hm, forgot 12 came out recently. bought it and yet to play it. Filename was meant o be short and easier to work with.
You're right though;I had followed someone's link to this thread from a FFX-2 thread and not completely reading things, as usual, over looked thst it was for FF12. Gonna edit out my other notes to not confuse others.
Thanks for pointing that out nicely and for that hosting site, will remember it in the future.

Well these DO work for my FF 12 game, but VirtuDub won't/can't process the WAV files. (except for 39, that works) Tried just playing the WAVs in media player, won't work there either. They encrypted the WAVs and skipped 39? Any other ideas?
Sayde, there a program for Tekken 4 and Tag, before I go hunting the forrum?

Tekken Tag's fmv's can be ripped rather easiilly. Just go do a simple search for "PSS cutter". Download it, then drag the iso of the game into the application. Tekken 4's fmv's seem just as difficult to extract as Tekken 5's. So that's a no go for now. For the FFXII's fmv's, you'll need to download an atrac 3 codec to listen to most of the wave files. I'll post a link later if you can't find it yourself. I'm kind of in a rush right now.

For tekken 4 and 5 I used ps2 connected to my monitor via tuner (aver studio 303), first record with losless codec and then convert to divx, movies got very high quality (near DVD), If you like I post some pictures

@micielk
sorry for you, but the size is the exact size of the *leaked* Version of FFXII US, i don't support piracy so i don't make a tool for it.

@Kyllinge
the wavs are normal wav files, but you need the Sony Atrac3 Codec.

@El_Diablo
i will look whats wrong, but check the size in Winhex and not in Explorer or in the ISO size.

USA: 4.066.508.800 Bytes ; 1.985.600 Blocks
USA Leaked: 4.065.132.544 Bytes ; 1.984.928 Blocks

@dsfgd

WinHex is showing 4 066 816 000 bytes, too

btw, first time I've uploaded 5mb of ff12 ISO, used winRAR to split, but I dunno if this was right...
fixing that: now used Fast File Splitter v3.2, first 5.5 mb of ISO u'll find here:

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

ok!
