how to make a extractor for ff games anyway~~~~~~~~

I am REALLY interested in how you make the rippers for FF. I rip CG for most games. I’m crazy about CG. But I can only open ISO files in a HEX EDITOR and then search the heads of PSS files (bytes) then take them out (if I don’t see PSS files in the discs). But for FF game discs are entirely different. I can’t find a head of PSS in the ISO files. How did you rip PSS out when I can’t find them?? The PSS are encrypted, right? I guess the information of that is in the files “SLUS_***.**”, “SLPM”, “SLPM” or “SLPS”, right? I just don’t know how to turn the encrypted files into original PSS(first,how 2 locate them?). Can you teach me that? I hope to learn to rip FF CG on my own. please don't say"it's hard 2 explain, my heart will brake".............................t h a n x ! oh, i know about hex editor only, what knowledge do i have 2 know first???????

I'm here every night, its day at your place then :P

there is no extractor for KH2,VP2 and dirge of cerberus.
you have to write your own or do it manually with an hexeditor.

dsfgd can tell you more about that :P

search forum for the sound problem, you need AC3 codec and you must edit the .DAT files manually

Valkyrie Profile 2:
- has no PSS files, it's a custom format (tri ace format, same in Radiata Stories)
and the table is encrypted, for now, it's impossible, wait until it works in PCSX2 and then record them.

FF7 DoC:

it's possible to create a extractor, but at moment, i don't know how to find them, i know the tables, but not how to covert them into FAO's tools.
(JAP version and USA version have differences)

first, i do not search them, i make extractors that can understand the table format of the game, then it's easy to find them (big filesize or the filename)

then i don't know how to decrypt anything, i modify FAO's tools, to extract them from other versions of the game. (fao's new homepage: Project-fao)

1. Cube Media Player (JAP, they are normal files, USA/EU scan the KH2.IMG after 2 GB, Final Mix+ scan OVL.IMG)
2. yes
3. normaly they are .dat, not .ac3
4. see 3.
5. from an normal wav file, created with windows audiorecorder and atract3 codec
6. every wave file header ends with "data" and then a long (4byte)

HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i succeeded in ripping sound from KH2!!! thanks 2 u,guys!!!!!!
but i got 2 last things about KH2 sound:
1. i found that every tool creats different .wav files (different head), only your atrac3 head works, why???? how do u know it would work when others don't????
2. your atrac3 head seem to work only for KH2?? i tried some other games, doesn't work. what if i have other games like KH2 that can't get the sound??????????????

to 1. it's not just the format, it's the settings, just test until all works
(i had some work with the header, because of wrong Bit settings, the file is to long or to short)

to 2. not all games use wav files/same settings/ATRAC3 as codec/...
you can't just simple add a header to a music file and hope it will work, this KH2 header is created for ATRAC3 coded wave files with 144kBit/s and 48000 kHz

1. it converts the Videos 1:1, it doesn't change the resolution.
2. atm is no PAL Version possible (when you mean ffxii PAL english), because i don't have a PAL Version from FFXII, and I don't know how to find the correct ASM code to recode the FPS (same like the KH2MOV)

1.My dvd final fantasy xii is a us version(NTSC/U/C bought in america is not PAL version)
I want to extract movie from my FFXII dvd to movies file have a resolution 720x480
I do? and you have other program is extract movie from FFXII to movie file have a resolution 720x480?
2.You have FFXIIUS version is extract movie trom FFXII it convert the video 16:9

he said the program dumps the videos as they are, it converts nothing.
you can resize and convert them by using tmpgenc or virtualdub

the "wrong disc" error comes only when you have a

- modified disc size
- bad dump (leaked USA Version)
- the wrong disc (it's only for NTSC/USA Retail Version of FFXII)

make sure your Disc/mounted ISO has an exact size of 1.985.600 Sectors / 4.066.508.800 Byte or it does not work with ffxii2mov US.

I have managed to make a version for the PAL extractor of Dirge Of Cerberus but when i try to demux the PSS files using PSS_Demux It says: unknown identifier f4040000, 0000000e

Do you know how to fix that error???

i don't have the PAL Version of DoC, only USA and JAP

did you try to play this pss files in a player? (Cube Media Player/ PSS Player)

normally when they are correct dumped, you can demux them with PSS demux, when they are not correct, you get this error, because the header is corrupted.
