Kingdom Hearts Model Viewer

Kingdom Hearts 1 Viewer
CHECK IT OUT It's pretty amazing! This is a great programm.

NOTE by the author: This is a very early release, not all the models from the game will be dumped, but only the models present in the in-game character list. Animations aren't supported at all as of now. And before you ask, there is no exporter...

Instruction
To use the dumper, put the iso file and the KINGDOM.IDX in the same folder than the dumper. Then open run"khdump.exe KH.iso KINGDOM.IDX" (if KH.iso is the name of the iso file). This should dump a bunch of .mdls in the same folder.
The viewer work like FFX view, just drop a mdls file on khview.exe

EDIT: I uploaded the dumper and viewer on rapidshare.
Here is the link Kingdom Hearts dumb and viewer.

Don't see the point in model viewers, not much fun...

looking at 3-D models close-up can be really nice even if just to see the detail artists is put into the game (most of the time its very difficult to see the little details)

plus if you're up-and-coming 3-D modeler you can use it to take style notes and brush up on your techniques.

I managed to reverse engineer the compression used in KH2, and I found out it was the same for KH1. I didn't search for long but I found one model KHdump didn't extract.

Finally I use Alcohol 120 to create Kingdom Heart 1/2 to iso.
Now, I want to use khdump.exe to dump the mdlc out, but as the instruction said I need a file Kingdom.idx to dump the files! Where can I get this kingdom.idx? Or how can I create one?

Please help!

Just copy the file from the KH disc. Basically, you need to rip an iso and copy the file off the KH disc.

The models are copyrighted, so this wouldn't be allowed here. Giving out models would be the same as giving away the game. If you don't own the game, then you don't have a right to those files.

I wonder if it will ever be possible to use what the program has dumped into your own games?

DVD Decryptor is my choice for ripping PS2 DVD's. It's a discontinued program, but you should be able to find it easily enough. Just change it to Mode -> ISO -> Read.

Hey,

Could someone please upload the viewer/dumper on megaupload, or another similar site? Yaz0r has finally removed the programs from his site, and the opening poster's links are no longer valid.

Thanks!
