Having some issues trying to run this under Vista Ultimate x64.

When I tried to just run the program as is, it gives me the "COMDLG32.OCX" error. I tried the package that was provided on page 3 of this thread, registered it as instructed and then tried to the run the program, it immediately tells me the program has stopped running and that's it.

Once I unregister COMDLG32.OCX, the FMVTools tells me it cannot find that file again. I've even tried to run this in XP SP2 compatibility mode, and still no joy.

Thus far, I have yet to have a problem running any programs in Vista that worked in XP, so I'm curious to as to why FMVTool will not. Does it have to do with the VB runtime files? I've made sure I have the latest versions of those, otherwise, I'm stuck trying to troubleshoot this.

If FMVTool is indeed dead (as I read in another thread), is there another alternative program to use in order to rip FMVs from PS2 games?

Thanks in advance!

The source code is available now, if someone wants to try improving it. Pete's cdvd plugin too.

I tried to extract the files they detected but it appear that those file are not playable... Any kind soul will like to give me tips?
maybe this can help you :
1. after extract the file, change the extension with .pss & open it with pss player
2. to make other video format : just split video and sound with pss demux (mpg/m2v & wav file), after split it join it with tmpgenc with your fave format file.
(i have the problem with the video it's just stop play at the middle and after that the video is blank, except sound file it's just great) so before i join it, i must convert the video file with another video converter, work for me!
3. The fast way is search the pss with supernova extractor, just select mpg and search IMG_BD.BIN, after that repeat step (2)

all program will find in this forums, so i don't need to post it again!!!

I just finished the first beta of my PS2 FMV Extractor. I tested it with my Xenosaga disk, and it worked.

The program uses any PCSX2 CDVD plugin to read the disc. I used Pete's one to test it

How to use (updated instructions for B05):

1. Get the zip and unzip it.
2. Get some CDVD plugins for ps2 emus.
3. Execute the program, select a plugin and configure it.
4. Select the option "Get sector count from disk info."
5. Press "Start Searching" and go do something while it works.
6. If it found something, Export the list to a file (so you can Import it later if the tool crashes).
7. Select the Streams you want to extract from the list.
8. Edit the extraction path\prefix if you want something else.
9. Press "Extract Checked" and wait some time more.
10. Check if the FMVs are working and if true, thank me

.
when i try uising beta 05, it crashes when it opens the cd! what went wrong? what's the best cdvd dll to use?

This is a message to the programmer of the FMV search & extract tool. Nice program but it crashes the moment I push the search button, when I'm trying to rip the music videos from the game Dance Dance Revolution Supernova 2. If you wish to test it on this game yourself, you can download ISO disk image of the game from the torrent here:

No links to warez. Please read the rules. Thanks.

Just remember if you don't own the game you can't legally play the game on any emulator. I am sending you this torrent link ONLY for the sake of helping you testing and debugging your video ripping software.

Could you please send me links to download the VB6 runtime and the to OCX files I'll need? Could you also sent me the Pete's DVD plugin that you say you used with the program when you used it?

Thanks in advance.

You have to use P.E.Op.S. v1.1 CD/DVD plugin. It doesn't seem to work with any other plugin or plugin version.

Try turning on Method 2.

I tried ripping the videos from Persona 3: FES but no videos were detected until I activated 'Method 2'. Even then, most of the videos were glitchy even after demultiplexing them. Also, if I remember correctly, Square-Enix games (including KH) use a special video format that video extractors aren't compatible with.

Use PSS Demux.

Just extract it somewhere like to a folder on your desktop, launch the program, then drag and drop the videos into the program to demultiplex the video and audio. The audio will be transcoded into the standard PCM "WAVE" format.

You will have to remux the video and trnscoded audio with another program like Virtual Dub or TMPEGenc... or just use Media Player Classic: HC since it autoloads like-named audio files as the video's primary audio track.
