Locating Obscured PS2 Files

A trend that I've been noticing on PS2 discs lately has been to make no references to any of the game files in the DVD TOC for the purpose of obscuring game files. Instead, a reference is made in a separate file that points to the appropriate disc sector upon execution.

On the PSX, this technique was relatively easy to bypass due to the existance of several programs (such as PSMPlay and PSound) that could simply scan the disc's sectors and find file headers. I've yet to see anything similar for the PS2, though am probably mistaken; for instance, I've already seen numerous successful movie rips posted in several places. Does anyone know where I can find such a program, or a means to uncover obscured files beyond combing through the executable with PS2dis? Thanks.

The only thing I know is for spesific titles only. Such as FFX, FFX-2, FFXI movies. For overall, I got sound ripper for PS2 DVD, but its complicated and totally difficult to use [you need to try one by one].

MFAudio, right? That can only open non-obscured files, though it's pretty useful. I haven't heard about the FFX and FFX-2 movie rippers, though; could you point me to where you found those? That might give a clue on how to speed up a manual search if the code is included. Thanks.

Yeah, you're right.

About FFX movie extractor, the site is in Japanese, so you need a translator : http://www.geocities.co.jp/Hollywood/4205/

For translator [not all words correctly tranlated, tough ] : http://world.altavista.com/tr
