If you had ANY idea about programming an emulator, you wouldn't ask such questions.
Bye bye.

Guys, he is just starting with C++, and he has no idea how crazy it gets yet. But you have to admire his enthusiasm. Give him a little slack, ok?

doggie, I would advise starting with something a little easier at first, like the Playstation. You will at least figure out how it all works, and there is plenty of source code and documentation to look at. Most of the code would be useless for PS2 emulation, but the IO controller on the PS2 uses the PSX CPU, so it wouldn't be a complete waste.

Well, here's the source code for an almost complete PSX emulator for you to look at.

http://www.pcsx.net/

for docs, I really don't know. Maybe Zophar's Domain would have something?

You've got to be joking - I think you meant 'start with a something a little easier like the NES'. PSX emulation is extremely complicated, he's much better off programming an 8-bit emu.

Hey, I know it's no walk in the park, but I doubted that doggie would go for something like that. I thought a PSX was MUCH more realistic than a PS2, even if it still is unrealistic. If nothing else, he will have the source code in front of him to see how far he has to go.

Well, there are always positions for skilled programmers to work on their projects. Get in contact with the PCSX crew and see if they can use the skills that you have to offer.

"Get a life"? Very nice from you. I just wanted to help you. We both know that you will never ever write an emu or becoming good at programming, so why waste your time?
You could just as well as go to a american rugby forum and ask "how can i play as a pro in the nfl?".

Angry

It's quite interesting how some "GODS of THE EMULATION SCENE" deal with newbies.
Take a look at yourself, bud. You weren't born as a professional, were you? It takes time to be a pro, but it is never late to get started.
Who knows? Maybe the one you are telling that will never do anything will be the main leader of the PS2/3/4/5/6 emulation one day. It's only the matter of time and the will to keep going.
