GoodN64 with compressed rar files

I was wondering if GoodN64 could rename my files even if the were compressed. Would I have to extract them in order for it to read my roms?

If there is one rom image per archive (either ZIP/RAR/7z), GoodN64 can rename the archive to the correct Goodname. It doesn't seem to rename the file inside the archive though. It may be best to extract the archives to make sure the right files are renamed.
