Zelda64 Actor Viewer status thread

Started this earlier this week, getting some nice results. Know the format mostly, now just working out what vertices make up what polygons (hence GL_Points mode only currently shows legible data, and why the wireframe shot looks mostly screwed).

Models are very low res, so you can only vaguely make out Jabu Jabu from this shot (top down view). Heheh.

This space will be updated as I make progress.

Edit: if you're wondering how you'll be getting model files from the ROM, that will be explained at release time (of which will include the source code). It will support Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time model files .

Edit: new shots.. gauntlets and kokiri sword.

Improved my parser significantly, no more nasty lines everywhere. Still haven't fixed linking completely, but even it is much better.

Awesome!!! No really, it's ****ing awesome! I always wanted to make a Zelda game, but I suck at modelling!

Btw, the models withouth textures look like 32X models lol.

It's amazing! When you release this, will it include an exporter?
If it exports properly, then I will hail you as my eternal king, instead of King Lunar of ZFGCentral .

Yes, I plan on an exporter for a familiar format (haven't decided which, most likely the easiest to parse ), at least by release 2.

To keep me from simply reposting, I've posted status updates Here.

ZAV now supports exporting to VRML 2.0 (from which can be used in your game projects, etc).. So, from here, just load the model, click export, save your file, load in your favorite modeling app, and use.

Your progress looks amazing! Congrats!

I actually signed up soley for this thread; I am a decent modeler, but I'm not familiar enough with certain areas from OOT I want to remake, and I suck at modeling complex areas (such as Hyrule field). Maybe I can just rip them once this is released, and apply homemade textures. My texture mapping abilities aren't too bad.

Alright... *deep breath*

Here's the first public beta release of ZAV. All information you need to know is in the readme.. read it CAREFULLY!

And yes, you can export Hyrule Field with this.

Sweet.. but uh....

What directory does Zelda Extracter extract to? I used and Oot v 1.0 NTSC rom on it, as the instructions said, but I can't figure out where it's putting all these files..

They should end up in the same dir as where the program is.

Try running it from cmd instead of dragging it on there.

Zelda Decoder.exe romname.extension

Actually, I ended up finding the debug ROM. I used ZRE and now everything works fine... This is one cool app you got here. I'll keep an eye on this for sure.

Also, I have decide to make a listing of the different Zmap and Zobj actors, and explain wat they are, since many of these names are hard to understand.

Note: This list is when you use ZRE to extract from a ROM. ((MQ debug))
Using ZAV's function to corrct filenames may work differently.

Hmm... big updates out of nowhere? Why not!

In short: texture support (RGBA/I/IA, 4/8/16bpp (5551) converted to 32bpp (8888), no CI support or multitexturing yet), partial color combiner emulation, actor modifier, vertex editor and actor mover both point/click/drag, collision matcher, 360 degree "WASD" FPS camera, and lots more.
