Exclamation Boom N64 + PSX USB Converter Problem

I have a boom n64 + psx usb converter but I can't get the psx controller to work. Here is a web site with the converter on it: http://www.ztnetstore.com/product_in...e4efc8fd11cf77

I have Windows XP and when I go to control panel/printers and other hardware/game controllers it shows the N64 controller as 4 axis 16 button joystick and it works great but my PS2 controller but says that it isn't connected and won't let me use the properties button on it. When I try to add it again it shows the error that my gameport is occupied and that it currently resides on port "standard game port" and that I need to remove it or assign it to another port. I've tried everthing I can figure out and it still won't work. I think that it says that because my N64 controller resides there but i don't even have it plugged in.

Please help me.

i have this exact same thing. the PSX part used to work, and now it's just dead. onlythe N64 part works. so i think it's just a crappy piece of hardware.

yes I did

yes I did flip the switch. I have a question about it though. should the light be red because the one for n64 is green.

yeah, red light for psx. worked ok for me. i didn't install any drivers (well, i tried, but it didn't work). if you're using win 98 or something REALLY old, which i doubt, make sure you got the drivers installed, can find them on lik-sang website.

EDIT: ...god damn, you said you were using xp, well, hope that's useful for other people. anyway, try using it the safe way, like, rebooting, connect to usb, switch to red, then plug in psx controller. don't have any n64 controller plugged in or anything.

sorry for bumping an old thread, but this is worth a try. Go to your Device Manager and uninstal it. Then unplug the usb plug, Make sure you have the switch set to psx and plug in an n64 controler and a psx controller and plug the usb plug back into your computer and see if xp recognizes it then.

It is a "bad" thing to bump old threads, but I must say that particular converter sucks majorly.

gokudbz8: You might want to check the wiring on the PSX side of it. My PSX adaptor, straight from the shop, did not work whatsoever with a PSX controller. I took it back, swapped it, and the same problem again. I took the adaptor apart and found that a few of the wires weren't even soldered to the plug itself. Took the board out, re-soldered the (all white) wires and it has worked perfectly since.

Otherwise you'll be stuck with your controller pointing down/right, which is not fun, especially when you're doing a survival in Tekken 3 and King just crouches/walks forward and dies almost instantly.

On another note, don't buy a gamepad which has a rounded d-pad. My Logitech Dual Action also sucks majorly for 4-way games and hurts my hand after finishing just one game of Tekken 2. I had 181 wins on Tekken Tag survival mode using a standard Sony PS2 controller. No sore left thumb/hand there. The Logitech controller is good for games that don't use the d-pad (like GTA 3/VC/SA), but as soon as you run your emulator and play something like Super Mario World you'll have to pause it every 10 minutes and move your hand around. At least Nintendo and Sony had the right idea with 4-way d-pads.

Specs: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz | Windows XP Pro SP1 | 1GB DDR | ATi Radeon 9550 256MB - yes, this PC gets a nice 53FPS in Tekken 4 in PCSX2 0.9.4. Divided by 100!

Yeah, I HATE rounded d-pads. I assumed the 4-way one was patented or something, I would've thought they were much more popular, since most non-official ones use the rounded ones. Some REALLY cheap Hong Kong controllers use the 4-way ones, like some cheap usb pc controller, but they turn out to be the best. Crap build quality, they feel flimsy, but functionality is great.
