Newbie questions

After searching these forums and doing some Googling, I've been unable to find what I'm looking for, so I'll ask here...

First, what tools exist to copy N64 roms to a PC? Where can I buy one? I'd like to play my N64 games in emulation for the better graphics and sound, but would like to stay legal about it.

Such tools must exist, else where did all those warez roms on the 'net come from?

Second, is it enough to have emulators and rom images, or is there a Nintendo 64 BIOS that I need, similar to the Playstation situation?

the way i've heard is Doctor V64... http://n64.icequake.net/mirror/www.p...n64/backup.htm but it is old and they dont sell it anymore.

i also found this website: http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/slaa...up/backup.html which talks about N64 backups and Nintendo's copy protection.

and no, you dont need an N64 BIOS. it's HLE emulated

Thanks for the pointers.

Dan

EDIT: Checked for used ones...ouch! Almost impossible to find, and at the prices I see (three digits) I think I'll just play the games on the original hardware a bit longer. Improved PC graphics are not worth that kind of outlay.

I've already got a TV that's capable of displaying the best the N64 can output. To go higher res and better colors would require emulation. The diff's not worth the money.
