What do you think of the late N64???

I was just thinking the other day while I was watching my wife play her gamecube, about how much more I liked the N64 about the same time in the systems life as the game cube. Game cube to me is a major let down, I mean it aint really a horrible system by far but it's my least favorite of all the next gen. systems, I remember the N64 was on and off my favorite system compared to all others in the PSX N64 system battle hay day. I really honestly miss the N64, and wish they did not stop makeing games for that awesome system, I know the games cost an arm and a leg to make compared to cds but still. I just dont like the game cube as much as my good old n64, whats are you peoples taughts do you agree or not, and why??? Thanks for your time in advance folks.

I love the Gamecube, it the next step and nintendo like everyone else has to move on to bigger and better things. We're now starting to see all the class characters repolished and ready to go, CDs were the best choice these day and it still loads super fast.

But why the hell am I talkin to you? You're banned anyway oh well.

He was screaming for it. I gave him enuff chances...

Anyway, to the topic in hand.....
The N64 I felt was a lacklustre system with few games that I enjoyed. The GC has more games that I enjoy, the PS2 has even more....

,...... you are doing a great job Lord Kane,..............

Back to the topic, N64 cartidge based system was a limit to nintendo, they had to go for cd based system sooner or later. I think GC is a good console and has a bright future, while N64 failed from the bigining. GC is supported by Sega and Capcom, while N64 games were only made by nintendo ( rare was a part of big N at that time)

Never really got into N64 games that much. About the only one I played was goldeneye, which to be truthful I never really saw what all the fuss is about. Pc FPS were better even back then.

I didnt like Goldeneye either, betamax, people were just over excited about its new concept ( James bond and all these spy characters in one singel game) . if you really wanna see how N64 games look like, i would recommend playing games like Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time , even Mario64 isnt bad at all

Caselvania2 was better than castlevania64, while Perfect Dark was the best graphical game on N64. Zelda had all elemets ( story, graphics, fun factor, sound tracks) and is considered the best game on N64..........

the best graphics of any n64 game is in conker, the most clean graphics are in perfect dark (but man, that in-game joanna dark is ugly)

I still think there is no better FPS than Goldeneye on any platform excluding PC. The control was excellent.

Goldeneye was just something very different at the time. It was an FPS that played out in an interesting way. It's pretty standard these days, but it made a huge impact back then.

Personally, I loved my N64. I am one of the few that do, but it had some real gems on it. Conker's Bad Fur Day and Zelda: OoT are two such games. their perfection is legendary.

But of course I love my GameCube just as much, if not more.

i like my gamecube better than my n64, i want link to change back!!!! why... nintendo.... why....

i'm about ready to not use my n64 altogether once emulation is very compatible, and have a nice speed on games. the n64 could have been better,

but having games really hard to program for it, sort of killed the system from the very beginning and detered many developers. and the controller could have been better as well.

It's standard in PC games but I still feel Goldeneye is unique in the sense that it was more than a kill-everything Doom/Quake type game.

Did you like Perfect Dark compared to Goldeneye? I felt Perfect Dark was a return to Doom/Quake type FPS. I just hate it when they put aliens in a spy game.

I thought the N64 controller was perfect for FPS but terrible for fighting games... which is why they didn't have many?

Playing Super Smash Brother Meelee at Wal-Mart was big enough hassle. The buttons aren't really in a good design for a fighting game.

N64 aye...carts were too expensive, and the media kinda limited our favorite genre..RPG's...hated the controller with a passion...all in all..some memorable games...

Gamecube? Just got one...no games yet, but the little we played on demo stations seem good...again there is a shortage of quality RPG-dom....but things are looking good...

lol, I know how you feel....I couldn't afford 100 dollars for each game (or most anyways).

I would like to get Gamecube tho. I want to play Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros Melee, Resident Evil 0, etc, etc, etc.
