Glide64 0.2 + pj64 1.5 + evoodoo

Sysytem specs in sig.

Problem:

After displaying graphics for ~3-5 seconds the GFX plugin crashes and I receive the following error

"GFX plugin caused an exception and will now close"

....with all my roms

Plugin settings:
Resolution - 640x480
Alternate txture size method - checked
Filtering mode - Auto
Use OnlyFirstTileSize - unchecked

Evoodoo settings
Color Depth - 16bit
Fast alternate zbuffer - checked
texture filtering - checked
triple buffering - checked

Now I know I should be using Jabo's plugin, but I'm using glide64 with evoodoo for comparison,m I saw some REALLY nice looking screenies over at the g64 homepage and I wanted to see if it would look that good on my system...

any ideas?

Dave himself said to NOT use evoodoo with version 0.2 specifically because of those problems. go back one version.

Hmm, another case of misunderstanding.

Btw evoodoo and glide 0.2 works perfectly here.

Why use Glide 64 if you don't have a Voodoo card? Would performance not be crappy?

No infact its better for me since jabo's d3d plugin shows weird glitches and transpareny problems.

How can a card designed to work on the OpenGL of D3D API work on a Glide API. I have heard of Glide cards working with OpenGL and D3D APIs before, but never knew it could be reversed.

I think glide wrappers are really really old now.
though evoodoo is the first to emulate glide3 api.

Are any of the D3D plugins being developed? Daves Glide64 seems to be the only good plugin being updated.

Now this is confuising.... I downloaded evoodoo 2.1xp last night when I satrted tinkering.... but now I downloaded evoodoo 3.2 this morning and (it seems) the problem is fixed.

The thing is I went to
www.emuxhaven.net/pluginn64.html#wrapper

and downloaded 3.2... it wasn't anywhere to be found on evoodoo's homepage IIRC

Ph33r your i810 chpset

Anyway, mpther question for you, (ok a couple)

I have pj64 1.5 running in a window (evoodoo 3.2 lets you do that) and pj64 says I have 60/60fps.

now if I turn on the gl64 fps counter IT says im getting 30/60 fps (since im using a wrapperthis is believable) but which is true?

Question number two.... is it just me or ae g64's graphics SUPERIOR to jabo's in some cases? I played OoT and the graphics seemed just a little better in some cases.

and the 64 cent question:
Will gl64 0.2 be the last version supporting evoodoo?

Judging by my experience glide64 counter isnt correct.Even it shows less fps games seem to run at full speeds to me.

IMO glide64 is definitely superior than jabo's d3d. I have weird glitches in jabo's plugin (and transparency problems as well).

Hopefully not. I hope next version will work great with evoodoo.(authors are describing evoodoo compatibility with each release so they must be working on it). Or may be new version of evoodoo will support glide64 ?

heh... so far I've only one area where the plugin performs worse than Jabo's. one of the fairies in Zelda:MM is pink! (all pink, not just the pink aura it's supposed to have)

Weather this is due to inaccuracy in the plugin or in evoodoo I dunno

Other than that it's sweet

Now if only GLNintendo64 wou;d release a new version

Yes, many people claim that Glide64 has reached a higher level than Jabo's D3D. I have a Voodoo, so Glide64 is the best anyway.

No, definately not. Here is a quote from one of the beta testers from Glide64:
Quote:
This problem is solved in the new beta version... evoodoo users should be happy. But there are still some random crashes in some games...

You know, I had a V3 for a long time. Now I have a GF2 and yet I still perfer glide plugins.... isnt that silly? Oh well. I'm glad that evoodoo will continue to be supported.

On a mostly unrelated topic:
evoodoo is supposed to be an all-inclusive wrapper (ie it's not JUST for N64 emulation) so I fired up Deus Ex... it works... but is unplayable :'( so I'm hoping evodoo will be able to handle the unreal engine soemtime soon
