Supra All OK...... but wazzup with the sound?

well...... I finally made supra 1.1.2 to run as I wanted it to run...... Zelda OOT is just perfect.... but the sound is horrible... it goes like:

toot,toot,toot (that's music)..... glitch...click...toot,toot

so that means it is full of glitches.... when I disable graphics emulation, it goes OK.... but as long as I play with graphics, it meses up...... what can I do... these are my settings

DirectX8, with a CMI8738 sound card, I'm using EVoodoo 2.2 with my Sis 620 8mb Video card, running in Win98, as for files, it is all OK, but when it comes to in-game sound, it is

any help please?

Looking at your specs, it seems that your computer may be too slow to play zelda OOT fully. One thing to try is use a different glide wrapper and lower resolution. Try XGL200 v0.04a. It is the fastest glide wrapper available, but it might not work with your video card.

well...... speed is OK.... the only thing I complain about is the sound, even withthat choppy sound, it runs all OK....... also, I have disabled every option available for the wrapper, and I have chosen the lowest resolution from ther Configurator....

is it enough?, do I have to try another emu?

I am missing a couple informations about your system configuration :
- Processor speed
- Ram
- Video memory allocated on you main RAM (if any)

Min RAM requirement, to me, is 64megs but if your PC is using some onbard chipset, running anti-virus and other stuff in da background, this is a known pain for SHLE/UHLE sound emulation.

All I can say is that on my K6-2 500Mhz I barely get any sound skip with Zelda (ok, I got 3 video cards plugged in) but there's hope for almost any configuration.

Please try a program such as RAMBOOSTER. check the amount of available ram before you run Zelda OoT (once the emulator is loaded.
Try to released atleast 80megs of RAM. If this doesn't help, well, I am currently checking my latest slist (sound related) hack and trying to fix this with a brand new trick. But well, no promises ...

I had those skips when I ran zelda in ultrahle on my p2 350 with voodoo2, so I don't think it's that odd to have them...

Zelda OoT sound skips are a known problem (reported in the help file -> troubleshooting section). But they shall not be as important as described by takmadeus. Mainly ingame. I also have a K6-2 500Mhz and only hear one sound skip during the intro and rarely hear any when ingame.

To break an old myth, your PC speed is not responsible for this. UltraHle's sound core is. But a faster PC and a good sound card help reducing the inconvenience.

yeah, the skipping aint really THAT bad.. i mean stuff is still very playable... im almost complete with zelda oot on Suprahle with my 8mb video card, and evoodoo 2.2, runs very well for me, maybe defrag your hd? or use norton system works or something similar to scan ur comp..p3 500 is far better than k6-2 500.. so it should run fine for you..except the small skips which are bugs btw, thanks alot dominator im having lots of fun playing n64 games with all those codes you rock

The best way I have found to speed up the emulation process is by far to use a RamBooster like tool, atleast, if you don't have 80Megs of free ram before you run a 256Mbits rom like Zelda OoT.

cooliscool : I am glad to hear that and definitly hope I'll add Zelda MoM to the list.

Thanks a lot. But, honestly, SupraHLE didn't bring that much over UltraHLE when it comes to Zelda OoT(variable speed increase depending on your system). It is like 99,99% due to Epsilon & RM

I had the same problem as you, and believe it or not it was because of how my glide wrappers were set up. I started using one like evoodoo and it stopped skipping exept in certain ereas such as boss fight ect..ect.. Zelda OoT runs fullspeed almost full sound(seems to only skip once in awhile). I also have a voodoo banshee and it seems to perform better with a glide wrapper than with the default drivers. Here are my specs.

PIII 450
128 mb of RAM
16 mb Voodoo Banshee

Im not sure what my sound card is but I know its an older card.

You dont need a 500 mhz machine to run a game at fullspeed on SupraHLE and UltraHLE. it should run at fullspeed on a 350 or close to fullspeed as long as you have everything set up right.

well... I think that I discovered what happened with the sound... it results that DirectSound cannot give acceleration in my crappr CM8738.... so that must be the reason... anyway, thanks guys for all your help....

I fully completed zelda oot on my system, everything was perfect, except for the quicksaves, u gotta pause the gam (f7 i think), then save, then unpause. if u just save, sometimes it will freeze your game and you gotta restart.
