trial and error

Which emulators do you recommend for OoT(version 1.2)? I tried project 64 but it won't show the file menu but I think you can still manipulate the file menu.

I can't get 1964 to work. Any suggestions.

I noticed when I play other roms and OoT with project 64 I can't see Nintendo at the beginning but I can see the rotating 3D "N". With Majora's Mask I have no problem seeing the file screen. My inability to see Nintendo or the file screen of OoT are probably linked. But how?

I am using jabo's 1.4 directx plug-ins. 1964 freezes whenever I try to load a rom and then I end task it.

Another problem I have is with project 64 and Majora's Mask. The screen is shifted down so I can't see the bottom. I use the jabo 1.4 directx plug-ins for pj64 too.

Are you using Jabo's DSound plugin? If so, that is your problem with 1964. Use another sound plugin and it should work. As for PJ64 cutting off the bottom of the screen, try downloading a rdb file, but I don't know where exactly, if you put that file in the PJ64 directory, it should fix that problem, if you have the PAL rom.Search these forums, you might find it. Hope that helps.

When I try to use 1964 with OoT I now get a "Exception happens during boot" error which is followed by an illegal operation. Under comments in the 1964 rom browser, zelda wasn't down as playable so I went to zophar for a new ini but that didn't help. It probably has to do with it being version 1.2.
It seems if I try to play any other game I get a eeprom loading error or "unable to create new mempak file" error with an illegal operation.

I found another member on this board which has the same problem as I do with project 64 and OoT here but they don't have a fix or an understanding of why either.

Does it work with PJ64? Iif it doesn't then you might have a bad rom. I don't know why the error comes up because OoT works great on my computer.

With the 'unable to create new mempak file', maybe the folder where you have your saves are set to read-only. When you go to the properties for that folder (eg. right-click, then click properties), uncheck the Read-only checkbox and then maybe it should be able to create that file.

I finished OoT with no problems under UltraHLE. You should try SupraHLE, it has very low requirements and it's not so hard to configure as PJ64/1964(you'll have to use a Glide Wrapper, if you don't have a Voodoo card).

Which version of the OoT rom do you have?

At the beginning, "Nintendo" doesn't appear for Majora's Mask and OoT but the 3D rotating "N" next to it does. This is for project 64. If this problem is caused by the same thing which stops the file menu in OoT from being displayed then both roms would be corrupt. I doubt it is a corrupt rom.

The save folder is not set to be read only.

You can check if you have a corrupted rom using an utility called GoodN64.

Sure it's corrupted or was it the rom version... later version roms do not mean it's any better then previous ones... if anything the newer version ones are less likely to work as later versions are often altered to have anti piracy stuff.

"32120c23 3c7dbf5b Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.2) [!] (L-33554432)",
This is what good tools spit out. I am in the good dump club so it isn't the rom.

Skye, I didn't think it was corrupt. I doubted it was a bad dump.

Does anyone else have version 1.2 of OoT? What versions of OoT do you have if you can get it to work on project 64?
