IMO:
PJ64 is the best and with the highest compatibility, 1964 is close behind.

PJ64 and 1964 are the best IMO, but they really need a fast system to run properly. If you have a crappy pc, you won't be able to run them, so you'll have to stick to SupraHLE and Corn, which have much lower compatibility.

Well for me personally I have never had problems with 1964 under winxp pro and it is what I prefer to run then pj64 actually, as I have had less problems with it.

Yes, but ONLY with a Voodoo.
I had a V3 3000 but when I got a new GFX Card (Hercules 3D Prophet 4500), it didn“t work anymore... So, if you have a Voodoo, stick to UltraHLE (It“s really good) if not, you should use Project64. |

I use 1964 cause it is very good and very fast. It has very good compatibility, too. With my specs, Zelda 64 runs full speed (60 fps) he time and on PJ64, the fastest I got was 45 fps. So I recommend that you use 1964.
Fivefeet8, when you use 1964, make sure that you don't use Jabo's Dsound plugin cause it freezes the emu. That may be the reason why it doesn't work for you.

1964 also doesn't have that annoying sound glitch on the Zelda logo.

Oh. I never noticed that in any of the emus I tried. I never heard a noise even with all the plugins. I guess I was lucky.

1964 SETUP use 0.7.2, then patch it with the 0.7.3 update. Theeeeeeeeen, copy and paste jabos d3d6 1.4.dll (it can be jabos d3d7 1.4.dll as well) from pj64's plugin directory to 1964's plugin directory. open 1964, go to the plugin option and select plugins. choosed jabos d3d for gfx. FOR SPEED INCREASES.... This is wat makes 1964 better and faster than anything out there...ppl with pIII 400 hav been able to play perfect dark at full speed on it... Now this depends on ur pc, but it is possible to apply speed hacks to each game to speed them up. These are known as Counter Factors (or CFs). In the rombrowser, right-click on the game that u find is running slow (it has to be a game that is running slow due to slow hardware, and not plugin/emu core issues) and increase the CF level (not too much otherwise ur game will play real jerky). u will notice amazing speed increases (not in all cases). OK, we define slow games as ones which run under the 60vi/s mark (there is a vi/s counter on most emus when they are running minimised), so for perfect speed u want games to run at 60vi/s for NTSC/JAP games and/or 50vi/s for PAL games. so in the rombrowser, right click on the game u want to configure, and make sure u select the speed limiter (i suggest auto...NOTE: 0.8.0 has a screwed speed limiter, use 0.7.3). Theres a new beta option in the rom options called 32-bit core. some games work with this, some dont, expect older games to be compatible with this, but if u do check it and a game does work, u will notice speed increases, and it should help. Check out my compat. list (www.1964emu.com and find the link to the compat. list) to check out sum games that do/not work with this feature. SOUND Theres 2 plugins that come supplied with 1964.0.7.2 - Azimar's 0.30 (old driver) and Azimar's 0.40 beta 2. 0.30 is more compatible and faster, but has poorer quality, whilst beta 2 is less compatible, requires higher spec pcs, but has exceptional quality if the correct requirements are met. its up to u wat one to choose. COMPATABILITY As mentioned, its as high, if higher than pj64 using jabos direct3d 1.4. My compat. list is quite useful ( http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57 ) , but wait a bit and u guys should eventually be treated with a new .ini file which will sort 1964 out a bit, and make it easier to use. shouldnt be too long now....

It depends on 1 things.
1.What game you want to run. 2.How fast is youre computer and video card. 3.why would you worry about an emulator if you already own the games and the system just play it on N64 I personaly recomend ultahle because if you dont have a god-like computer no other emus will work. but if you do have a god-like computer try nemu works realy good. |
