From what I have heard, PEOPS in the best software GPU that you can get for PSX emulators like ePSXe. Kazzuna (I may have spelled his name wrong and if I did I'm sorry) also has a software GPU out for the various PSX emus, but I don't know if it has been updated in a while. PEOPS is being actively worked on and updated. Both software GPUs are available form NGEmu.com

Wouldn't you need a really powerufl system to play the games in a software plugin? Hardware plugins are slow enough (well, on my system they play full speed but slow down when there is a lot of action) and a software plugin will solely rely on the CPU to do the work so it will slow down quite a bit. Well, thtas just my opinion because for me, Nemu was really slow on my system.

I was trying to help my friend who has a celeron pc and no graphics card. Nemu is slow when using its software graphics emulation ~ about 15-20 frames/sec on his 733mhz pc, but it's still somewhat playable.
I personally think it's awesome how far the emulation scene has gone in a matter of a few years so there are no complaints from me. Thanks for all the helpful responses. |

Well, I have a recommendation for your friend. I say that your friend should save up some money to buy a fairly decent video card. I have a geforce 2 MX (it's not the greatest card out on the market) and it plays a lot of games at full speed. But thats when I use 1964 and Supra HLE. I don't get as good speed in PJ64, however.

Thanks Recca for correcting me. I do not like to misspell people's names.
PJ64 is the only N64 emu that i can use. All the others refuse to work on my system. X80, if you and your friend are going to play in software mode, then a lower end video card should suffice. But if you want to play in hardware mode, then you would want a more powerful video card. Prafull, I think NextGL is the only one of Nickk's plugins that is going to feature 2xSAI right now. Then Next3D and then NextSoft. Pelase feel free to correct me if I am wrong. But I think this is how it is going to go. sincerely, sx/amgia |

So I am sure that once he get some more adjustments done on nextsoft(which currently in beta stage supports super eagle and 2xsai) he will release it.

Nemu does not have a software renderer as such, those options correspond to the options in PJ's "Rendering Device" drop down menu - it's a standard part of Direct3D.
"Hardware accelerated" is hWnd's "Direct3D HAL" "Software emulation" == RGB emulation "Screenshot mode" == Reference Rasterizer |
