You can fork out $5,000 for no$gba (I just love the idiocy of that sentence, paying $5,000 for a prog who's name begins with "no$"). It claims to have link support, although since no one's willing to pay that kind of money for an emulator, no one knows for sure. No other emu claims to have link support of any kind, and most of them expressly state that they will never add it. Most people say it'd be impossible, a few people say it'd be possible, but far too complex, and would only be able to run on a comp with some kind of insane 69Ghz or more processor.

Dont get depressed, people here tend to be pessimistic.
My crude calculations show that you need 1ghz+0.5ghz per player if a GBA emu was made. (based on how many VBA i can open an simultaniously run...ie, if it used the TGDual method. I tested it using Sonic Battle,I could open 3 and run then at full speed on my 1.3ghzAMD. Was really fun playing 3 copys of the same game at once )Thats way under 60ghz+, and i imagine most gamers will have the nesscerly speed in time. Also, this is an overestimate, as there is numberious things that wouldnt actualy need to be emulated twice. (sound, for instance) All we need is some codeing god to put a lot of effort into it. |

its not the power thats the problem. Its the link itself. Think about it, the link not only transmits controller functions, but also data. Ex. Golden sun 1 and 2 or pokemon. Consoles just transmit the controler functions. Also, the GBA link requires an almost lag free connection, something that even a network connection cant give.

(as posted in the other identical thread that's been moved)
So keep the link internal to your PC, and pass the data between two instances of the emulator. Transfer your keypresses to your friend, whose PC inputs them on the second instance of the emulator and vice versa. |
