Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

depends on Nintendo the PSP easily beats the GBA but it realy depend on the next portable console Nintendo makes. I'm betting that Nintendo wont make a portable console like Sony. (A multi-media console)

Yeah, Nintendo will release a new handheld with the proper headphone adaptor but this one will require you to buy the screen seperately. Remember it's illegal to f*** kids unless you are a large multi national corporation.

Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

Hardware doesn't matter games do , still Sony has allot of fan boys/girls so maybe they have the edge especially if somebody makes a GBA emu that runs at full speed for it

Ps: of course the proprietary media format could be a problem for that.

Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

As long as no games are released for it, it's going to be a dud.

Also, if it's going to cost more than $300 or somewhere alon those lines, it's going to be a dud.

I can't see the difference between the N-Gage and PSP, and the older WonderSwan, Neo-Geo Pocket, Atari Lynx, and Sega Game Gear. These older handhelds had superior hardware to their Gameboy counterparts in most cases, but they all failed. These newer offerings don't even vaguely interest me.

I think it would be better if the games were balkwards-compatable with the PS2.

Just imagine the size the PSP would need to be to be to fit a DVD reader.
It's just silly

True but times change, Nintendo is not the giant it once was. Just look at what happened to Sega.

No. I mean be able to put the PSP games in the PS2. But i think the PSP games are some kind of a disc in a cartrige. Not sure tho.

Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

Sony have a mountain to climb. Nintendo own 99% of the handheld market or something silly like that. It will take more than the Sony name alone to out pace Nintendo in the handheld market.

And you know what? I want them to fail. I liked Sega, and I don't want Sony to bump off Nintendo as well, and I don't want Sony to have a monopoly of everything. They'll be the Microsoft of the console industry.

Yes, but it has multiple functions. It is a cell phone AND plays games. If Sony's handheld is only going to play games (which is what I'm assuming), it will need to be much less expensive, like the gba. I'm guessing that it should be around $100 to $150 US.

Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

I like Sega (the games not the hardware) too, but that's what I think it will happen, In any case I can’t say it would be a bad thing.
But things would never be the same if that happened…

Yup, you can see it on the link below,
http://gamesradar.msn.co.uk/news/def...685&pagetype=2
and from the specs I think we can expect it to be a mp3, mpeg 4 player too

edit: how will they port ps games to it? theres no R2, L2 and second analog stick (not has important but still)

Personally I hope Gameboy wipes the floor with PSP.

Actually the only reason that I hate PSP is because it may force Nintendo to upgrade to a new gameboy soon to compete with the graphics power of PSP (That and the fact I like the big N better). What I love about all the gameboys (espcially GBA) is the fact that they DON'T support the latest 3D graphics. If I want to just kick-it with some awsome 2D graphics I can play GBA, and when I want the power of 3D I play on the computer or console. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Sony's Handheld: can it beat gba?

PSP will have way better graphics and more features than the GBA. But that doesnt matter when yuo have no good games for it. We will all have to wait and see.

Ill be buying a PSP if they have good games for it. Just imagine. An awsome little FF game on the go!
